Pro-Gaddafi forces had taken to the sea by boat after fighting a desperate rearguard battle for the refinery, the regime’s last source of fuel for its besieged capital.

...

“Although a challenging target, small and under way at sea, a direct hit was scored with a laser-guided Paveway bomb which sank the vessel,” Major Gen Nick Pope said.

“If you’ll recall, we’ve been down this road before — in 1998-99.”
That’s the point - Nobody doesn’t recall that Bill Clinton is an impeached president.

“The exercise was unproductive. A waste of time.”
Just because you think so does not mean the process was a waste of time. It certainly tied Clinton and his cronies in knots for a while.

“Understand as well, that an impeachment is a political event — not a legal one.”
Who doesn’t understand that? What’s wrong with a political event? A political event has ramifications too.

RAF, bomb your London ghettos instead!
It seems like Duffy could hold islamists down better than you do at home.
Envy you!

Was it not you who was comparing impeachment to a legal event?

At least that's what I took the terms "grand jury" and "jury nullification" to be in reference to.

Was I mistaken?

At any rate, since you understand that impeachment is a political event, you should understand why it's not going to happen.

The Obama administration is roadkill on the way to a Republican/Tea Party sweep in 2012. Why give the Democrats a reason to rally round their Messiah? Or the independents a reason to feel sorry for him?

Headline should be NATO shoots fleeing people in the back to aid Al Queda affiliates.
///

exactly !!!

““Although a challenging target, small and under way at sea,”

those were MEN, with FAMILIES, who were RETREATING !
and the RAF is PROUD of themselves ?!?
WTF?

a simple “no fly” zone turns into a license to MURDER fleeing men, to help the ISLAMISTS AND AL-QUEDA get power?

this is INSANE !!!

and MOST Americans don’t even know,
that Obama is HELPING Al-Queda take power,
just as he did in Egypt, helping the Muslim Brotherhood:

Al-Qaeda and the Libyan Rebellion
National Review Online ^ | June 23, 2011 | John Rosenthal

A new report from two French think tanks concludes that jihadists have played a predominant role in the eastern-Libyan rebellion against the rule of Moammar Qaddafi, and that “true democrats” represent only a minority in the rebellion. The report, furthermore, calls into question the justifications given for Western military intervention in Libya, arguing that they are largely based on media exaggerations and “outright disinformation.”

“Was it not you who was comparing impeachment to a legal event?”

Actually, no, it was another poster that used the congress-as-grand-jury impeachment/indictment analogy to begin with -but the procedure is a unique event, one that is both political and legal as it is a trial for “high crimes and misdemeanors”. It can be both a political event and a legal procedure at the same time.

“At any rate, since you understand that impeachment is a political event, you should understand why it’s not going to happen.”

Just because you say its not going to happen means nothing. Its happened twice before. You don’t know what the future holds. We are being governed as an effective dictatorship now, and things could get so rough in the next 15 months that we would have to use the impeachment procedure to get him out of office.

“The Obama administration is roadkill on the way to a Republican/Tea Party sweep in 2012”

Seemingly. But don’t count you chickens just yet. News reports today are that the Obama Administration plans to manufacture 300,000 new voters for himself by the time of the 2012 elections, just like that. How do you know some third party candidate won’t be put up to run to split the anti-democrat vote in 2012, thus getting him re-elected?

I think you are putting way too much trust in your own unfounded predictions.

I've said it before, as much as I despise Khadaffyduck I can't justify the NATO attacks on him.Just because we feel he is evil does not, under any international law I know of give us the right to depose him. I'm fairly certain there is no law allowing us to decide the form of govt. they will adopt either. I believe this will come back to haunt us in spades.

Just because my prediction doesn't mesh with your expectations doesn't mean it can't be right.

But I'll stand on this prediction: there won't be an impeachment. A resignation, perhaps, but not an impeachment.

Where were these war films being shown in 1984?

More refugees fleeing Tripoli. With gas $200 a tankfull, and Gaddafi controlled checkpoints ordering people to go back people really must want to leave when they do so.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/world/libyan-refugees-say-tripoli-will-fall-soon/2011/08/19/gIQAS5w5QJ_story.html

Gaddafi seems to be under continuing pressure to leave. Here are more than 80 Libya photos from various parts of the country with useful captions.

Good morning, gleeaikin. Both of us are Up Early. Consolidating one comment to both pings. Thanks for the updates.

quaddfi looks as though he is going to stay till the end. Doubting he will, but he is apparently giving that impression, as best as can be determined from the information gleamed from the updates seen, and provided by you.

Count me in: of us will be holding our breaths to see what happens after Gaddafi. I pray your insight will be the correct one, for I agree I don't want your Special Forces Son or any of our Sons and Daughters to have to put out another ME fire.

Always heard about cheap gasoline in the ME and North African countries. Their cost (for gasoline) was approximately 15% of our cost, per what I read. Haven't checked, their market price in a long time, though noted the $200 notation for Tripoli. Strange how all movement is always limited based on the flow of oil for all the societies in the present world. Wonder how many lies have been told to the people of the world regarding supply? And if there were no lies, and we are all left with the only option of fighting for oil and food ... living on this planet is not going to be good for any of us soon.

I think I awoke too early this AM. Trying to think, and reason and understand what is true is making my head hurt. May your day bring you many blessings.

Know your post wasn't to me, but I wanted to confess ... I represent that remark, and once more wanted to caution anyone reading me and taking my predictions into their consideration ... do such with a ten pound block of salt. Thank you ngat for allowing me the opportunity to place a necessary disclaimer.

I do agree with you on that. For reasons that cannot be allowed to be discussed.

Sorry. I get on the computer during a Redskins game and I miss that.

I keep telling the Palestinian supporters that if they don’t like Israel attacking Gaza, or blockading Gaza, there is one course under international law that will compel them to stop... surrender. For some reason, they don’t like that.

I don’t think the Israelis would even require surrender ,just that the “Palestinians” STOP attacking and actually go to work building homes, growing food, etc.

War Powers Act? Impeachment? Congress?

Obama is furthering the cause of militant islam and that is all the justification necessary.Furthering islam is part of every act of this fraudulent preident.

The American military has been misused in destroying the somewhat sectarian strongmen of the Middle East and replacing them with even more vicious men who will committ greater crimes not out of greed ,but with the claim of divine approval.

If the Palestinians did that, then 1) they'd be much richer and 2) the average bullyboy would have to sweat making a living. I would love to see the Palestinian on the street get rid of their bullyboys.

Actually I wasn’t up early, I hadn’t gone to bed yet. Today I am up early, and here is the latest on Libya. A lot of on the ground detail about this latest progress by the rebels.

http://news.yahoo.com/libya-rebels-capture-coastal-city-zawiya-134049314.html

And the rats continue to leave the sinking ship. More on high level defections from Gadaffi’s team.
