* New GM said not responsible to fix Impala made by old GM
* Suspension problem said to cause excessive tire wear
By Jonathan Stempel
NEW YORK, Aug 19 (Reuters) - General Motors Co (GM.N) is seeking to dismiss a lawsuit over a suspension problem on more than 400,000 Chevrolet Impalas from the 2007 and 2008 model years, saying it should not be responsible for repairs because the flaw predated its bankruptcy.
The lawsuit, filed on June 29 by Donna Trusky of Blakely, Pennsylvania, contended that her Impala suffered from faulty rear spindle rods, causing her rear tires to wear out after just 6,000 miles. [ID:nN1E7650CT]
Seeking class-action status and alleging breach of warranty, the lawsuit demands that GM fix the rods, saying that it had done so on Impala police vehicles.
But in a recent filing with the U.S. District Court in Detroit, GM noted that the cars were made by its predecessor General Motors Corp, now called Motors Liquidation Co or "Old GM," before its 2009 bankruptcy and federal bailout.

That's what 'd like to know. I just spent $1800 for an extended bumper to bumper warranty on a 2008 Cadillac with 1800 miles on it.
So. it's GM's fault Impala owners will have to run through 8 sets of tires when they should be running through one and they refuse to fix the obvious problem?
Color Government Motors "dead". As it should be. As it should have been a year or so ago.
I can't wait for ObamaCare when the government monopoly starts making good on our heart and cancer treatments...
Nice work GM. Way to get repeat customers for your garbage. No wonder no one is buying your crap anymore.
Typical union ****. "It's not my yob, man!" I wouldn't have a GM product if they gave it to me for free.
so NOW THEY WANT THE LAW OF BANKRUPTCY,
before they totally distregarded it.
since obama guaranteed the cars take his campaign “obama money” too.
You are probably right regards to car. I should have speced PICKUP and with the new Eco-Boost, Ford PU is even harder to beat.
Wow. Just wow.
Anyone who considers buying a GM product after this should have their head examined...
All “new” GM has to do is sort of stay in business until after the 2012 election. Then they will go out of business for real. Having served their purpose, see.
We will never get the money back no matter who is president.
Hell, they never settled the Dexcool vs. gasket issue from the 90’s...1,000’s forked over $1,000’s on blown garbage intake manifold gaskets...GM fixed a few models but left others out in the cold.
“Simple solution - BUY FORD.”
UAW...sorry, still UN-AMERICAN. My past few cars have been made by REAL AMERICANS...people that are American, but don’t belong to anti-American entities like the UAW. Obviously, these cars are made by companies that are not traditionally considered “American”, but the workers are people that LOVE the country and LOVE their company...so what more could I ask for?
Incredible how screwed up things are.
Well the laughs keep on going.
The only ones who would have bought a car from GM after Obama took it over were progressives.
Guess they get screwed now eh?
Way to build brand loyalty, GM!
And they’ll get away clean. Suing GM is like suing Congress, ain’t gonna happen. For those you morons still buying GM cars, have fun with that.
It’s really great that the govt. is now rationing car warranty repairs. Wait till they start doing it with healthcare.
No, according to articles, they agreed to assume liability for Old GM’s warranties, but not defects.
