AAM got hit with a parasite, the union, which killed it.

A&P food company, too. The unions wouldn't cave. The company backed the trucks up to the building one night, loaded the equipment, and locked the doors. Thousands lost their jobs.
The factory building has since been torn down.It was HUGE.

Was that the old “Ann Page” packaging plant out in Elmira? Yes, that place was huge. Believe it was closed for at least 20 years or more.

Unions can share the blame but also you can blame regulations, taxes, etc. I’m amazed they lasted as long as they have in an anti-business state like NY. Try to open a small business in this state and you’ll be buried quickly in red tape to beat the band.
