Let's give the guy a break.....he accomplished every goal he set for himself in college (/snix). So you think participating in a highly respected military program (Corps of Cadets) at Texas A&M then graduating is somehow a negative?
Right after that, he became an Air Force officer and pilot. Is that a negative also or am I misinterpreting your post?
