To Sarah ‘as long as possible’ means:
Palin has said several times that practically and logistically she would need to announce her decision in Aug or Sept. Evan last winter she said it would probably be late summer. She also said she realized it wouldn’t be fair to her supporters to wait any longer.

There are statutory deadlines and requirements for getting on the primary ballots that would preclude the scenario you claim to fear.

It may mean that to you, but not to anyone else. To wait that long would be just about the stupidest thing for a candidate to do. But thanks for getting inside Palin's mind, and enlightening us all with what WAIT AS LONG AS POSSIBLE actually means to her.
