Perry’s War With the Bushies
Daily Beast ^ | Matt Latimer

Posted on 08/17/2011 10:03:20 PM PDT by Borough Park

Just because Karl Rove is behind a plot doesn’t necessarily mean it won’t work.  That we’re still talking about the former Bush aide at all is a testament to his singular tenacity.

How has he done it? The man helped elect the Pelosi Congress—it was Rove who in 2006 was in charge of holding on to GOP majorities in the House and Senate. He helped elect Barack Obama—insisting that John McCain was the only “electable” Republican in 2008 and bad-mouthing most of the others running. His indispensable support of his boss' overspending and government bailouts even helped create the Tea Party, which has bedeviled Rove and other GOP establishment figures ever since.

And yet billionaire donors to the Republican Party seem oblivious to the record, handing Rove big, fat checks to fund his activities further. Perhaps this is because he is charming and witty, has a statistic for every occasion, never stops calling people until he gets what he wants, says all the right things about battling “them liberals,” and wallpapers himself across The Wall Street Journal’s editorial pages and Fox News Channel, where his words are rarely challenged.  To his everlasting credit, Rove has truly lived up to his Bush-conferred nickname, “Turdblossom.” He can make any mess he's involved in still smell sweet.

His brazen and transparent attacks on a leader of his own party, Texas Gov.  Rick Perry, may be the greatest test yet of Rove’s remarkable resilience. Some, in fact, are starting to question if we have at last reached “the moment.” Years from now, will we look back at the 2012 primary season as the time when Rove put on his Fonzie jacket, flashed a thumbs-up sign, and then—finally—jumped the shark?

Rove was never on the Conservative side. He just wanted the Republicans to be as liberal as the Democrats.

I’m thinking this is about “Jeb in 2016”. Mayhap the Bushes think America’s distaste for the brand will have lessened by that point, giving Jeb a shot at the nomination. They have to know he wouldn’t stand a chance this time around.

Maybe I am just too cynical, but it does seem to fit. Four more years of Obama, and the destruction he would wreak, would give the GOP nominee in 16 an unbeatable edge. In contrast, a GOP win in 12 means an automatic nomination on 16, making it 2020 before Jeb could play. How old would he be then?

I was thinking much the same thing.

Rove purposely destroys the GOP nominee in 2012 so he can get his guy an easy run in the next election.

Rove has never, ever, ever been on the conservative side. I remember in 06, tanning in the bed of my pickup listening to Rush who had him on and he was totally confident the GOP would retain the house. Every sign on planet earth said the opposite but instead of revving up the base he used a lot of ‘there, there’ to keep it asleep.

F him.

Rove can’t elect anyone, or keep an approval rating from rising above 20 percent, but he is good at sabotaging conservatives enough so they lose, as was shown with Christine O’Donnell. He could damage Perry, but I be Perry can overcome it.

Four more years of Obama and there won’t be an America for Jeb to try to lead. There might not even be an election.

Bushes don't like Palin either...are they Mitt folks?

I've wanted to say this for years but it was verboten during Dubya’s sainthood here

The Hell With Them ...and that frigging dwarf folks here thought was Irwin Rommel..screw em

They are patrician very old money New England moderates...even if a few of them talk like I do

yes...they are not a total loss and yes better than Obama or Clinton

but they are a big part of why Obama won, why we are so in debt and why the GOP establishment rejects social conservatism

so screw them all...they need to stick with their cattle and environmentally friendly ranches

best part of the Bushes was always the Walkers anyhow

Right now the Republicans could beat Obama with a dead Goldwater corpse. As Rush said, debt man walking.

The only thing he’s good at is predicting how the hispanic vote will break. And nobody in the MSM discusses that until the actual election day.

Why is this disloyal jerk even finding work? He must have some major dirt on a bunch of people is all I can figure.

This is ridiculous. Perry is a Karl Rove Candidate, and once a Karl Rove Candidate, always a Karl Rove Candidate.

To try to say otherwise, that’s the plot.

Hmmm. McCain was selected in case Obama was found to have a legal issue with his birth certificate. This was in the planning for a long time and Hillary was a part of it.

Rove hates Perry. I've read a few pieces that cited stories of Rove wanting Perry to zig and he intentionally zagged in defiance. Rove didn't like it. Just look at the venom pouring out of the Bushies like Rove and Perino over Perry. Just today, an article posted here from NJ talked that if Romney couldn't lock this thing up, they are going to back Christie. All NE Rockefeller RINOs. Also Roves type of people. Rove is a little deceitful maggot.

Karl Rove managed Rick Perry’s campaign for Agriculture Commissioner in 1990.

Karl Rove himself switched Rick Perry from a Democrat State Legislator who ran Al Gores Texas Campaign in 1988 to Republican.

If I want NO MORE KARL ROVE CANDIDATES, that means no one that has ever been managed by Karl Rove.

The only candidate running who has been managed by Karl Rove is Rick Perry.

Rick Perry is the only candidate to be ruled out by the no Karl Rove candidates rule.

If you’ve ever been managed by Karl Rove.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

You’re disqualified.

Bye bye Perry.

Rove and Lee Atwater convinced Perry to switch parties and Rove ran Perrys campaign in some State Agriculture position in the early 90’s. Those are the only connections I have found between the two. After that Perry found what many of us have realized just at the ‘06 midterms, Rove is a backstabbing creep. Remember all the “Rove You Magnificent Bastard” posts here? Even a lot of us at FR didn’t realize he was garbage till after he burned us.

I find it hard to believe that GW is involved in this. His own mother and father stated that GW was more conservative and that they often had disagreements.

With that said, it's not hard to believe that his rino/pansy father, mother and brother are involved. As far as Rove, it's surprising that someone hasn't cleaned his clock. He's a loathsome maggot and the writer stated it perfectly; he helped elect the 2006 Pelosi congress and help manage GWs ratings right into the toilet.

Well we will know of a person's character by their enemies.
Gov Perry you are over the target already. Bombs away.
