Perry Expresses Doubts On Manmade Global Warming

BEDFORD, N.H. (AP) — GOP presidential candidate Rick Perry told New Hampshire voters Wednesday that he does not believe in manmade global warming, calling it a scientific theory that has not been proven.

"I think we're seeing almost weekly, or even daily, scientists that are coming forward and questioning the original idea that manmade global warming is what is causing the climate to change," the Texas governor said on the first stop of a two-day trip to the first-in-the-nation primary state.

He said some want billions or trillions of taxpayer dollars spent to address the issue, but he added: "I don't think from my perspective that I want to be engaged in spending that much money on still a scientific theory that has not been proven and from my perspective is more and more being put into question."

Amen to that! All these regulations for a non-existent (hoax)problem has killed millions of jobs and costs trillions of dollars

Awwww, me so disappointed...

You mean Perry isn’t going to play the usual “split-the-difference”, “half-a-loaf” Re-pube-lican game? He’s going to reject globull warming entirely and take a sharp stand against it?

I suppose next thing will be him refusing to pander to black audiences but rather serving them conservatism straight up?

Well, it’s going to be a long campaign. I’m sure the MSM will eventually succeed in whipping him into submission and making of him a tame cringing RINO.

"and questioning the original idea that manmade global warming is what is causing the climate to change,"

I agree with Perry, except for the above. Can anyone point out where and what 'climate' has changed?

The Average Global Temperature, for instance, hasn't changed one iota.

Some of the 'weather' has moved around a bit, but that is a normal part of the weather. It isn't tied to the ground. The Jet Stream is more responsible for altering the 'pattern' of local weather.

Excellent.

Now if we just could send the Bush Klan and Rove to Martha's Vineyard to join their Obama buds, I'd be a very happy person. It seems the Bushes, Rove and Obama are on the same side - against us.

I have to say, I like what this guy is saying. Tell it like it is, don't stutter and NEVER APOLOGISE! He might actually get my vote.

I disagree with the term “Bush clan”.

I think it’s basically Bush #41 and wife Barbara that have not liked Perry for so many years. Could it be that it stems from the fact that Perry, when a Dem., was the TX Chmn. for Gore against GHWB in 1988?

Bush #43 and wife Laura have steered clear of expressing their views on politics since his retirement... just as he clearly stated they would do.

I have no idea what Rove has done to go off on the Perry bashing rants, like he did with O’Donnell. He has become a real nut case in recent weeks on FNC and other media, because he (like Newt) still thinks in terms of the old style political campaigning and ignores the TEA Party influence. ........JMO

It’s not scientific, and it’s not a theory. It’s a scam to get money from the private sector and gubmints.

But Perry's opinion runs counter to the view held by an overwhelming majority of scientists that pollution released from the burning of fossil fuels is heating up the planet.

Gee this is an Associate Press article. Who would have guessed?

Can’t just report on the candidates remarks got to make it seem that he is a radical and out side the main stream.

Have any of the major contenders for the GOP presidential nomination made this strait forward a denunciation of anthropomorphic global warming theory?

Perry! The smart one in the GOP Primary litter!

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/nation/7701984.html

...........Issue seen as litmus test

Some observers say it sets up a stark choice for the GOP primary voters.

“It’s going to be a litmus test or shorthand way for voters to see how the candidate thinks about not only big issues like global warming and energy rationing policies, but it’s indicative of other things as well,” Myron Ebell, director of energy and global warming policy at the Competitive Enterprise Institute, told the New York Times.

Perry, who has long been criticized by environmental groups in Texas for his anti-regulatory zeal, said some climate change advocates want to spend billions or trillions of taxpayer dollars to address the issue.

“I don’t think, from my perspective, that I want to be engaged in spending that much money on still a scientific theory that has not been proven and … is more and more being put into question,” he told the business audience in New Hampshire, which is situated in a region known for its strong environmental policies.

Calls Gore ‘false prophet’

In his book, Fed Up! Our Fight Save America from Washington, Perry claims the global warming warnings from Democrats are simply further evidence of their leadership gone too far.

“Quite frankly, when science gets hijacked by the political Left, we should all be concerned,” Perry writes.

He then takes to pummelling the self-avowed champion of global warming, former Vice Present Al Gore — the same Al Gore who Perry, when he was a Democrat in 1988, endorsed for president.

“Gore found something more satiating to his ego than the presidency,” Perry wrote. “He found a global cause and he became the prophet who could protect us from Armageddon.

“And it’s all one phony mess that is falling apart under his own weight. Al Gore is a prophet all right, a false prophet of a secular carbon cult, and now, even moderate Democrats aren’t buying it.” [end]
