Ten things about Rick Perry that may worry some conservatives
Chron.com ^ | August 2011 | Texas on the Potomac

Rick Perry has counted on the staunch support of Texas conservatives during his two decades of statewide triumphs in Texas. He’s an anti-tax, anti-spending, anti-regulation, anti-Washington stalwart.

Richard A. Viguerie, chairman of ConservativeHQ.com and a leader on the right since the days of Ronald Reagan, called Perry a “committed conservative” whose presidential announcement “brought a wave of relief to conservatives.”

Then why are some conservative bloggers and activists warning others on the political right about a Perry presidential candidacy?

“Before Republicans start salivating too heavily, it is important to examine Perry closely,” says conservative talk-show host David Zublick. “His conservative bona fides leave much to be desired.”

I’m sorry to tell you, but he’s not listening. But thank you for your post.

I'm sorry DRey. I'm not sure what you meant. If I sent that post to you by mistake, please accept my apologies.

I thought it was you who spoke about Rick Perry using Israel as a model. I just thought that was fascinating. Had not heard that before, and wanted to let you know (or whoever posted that info) that the post was very interesting.

If that was someone else's post, please accept my apologies for mistakenly replying to one of yours.

Guess I should go back then and see who it was that did post that information, but again, sorry if I mistook that info for something you posted.

The authentic Rick is standing, and will be the next president, no worries.

Oh, come on. Not all of us are professional posters like you, Winifred! And most of us don’t have extensive and egotistical profiles. I’m sorry I didn’t check yours. I prefer to learn of people in forum versus what they say about themselves.

The point is the government had no right to mandate such a vaccine in the first place.

See what I mean? "Perry has been an amnesty supporter from Day 1."

Oh, brother..........
BTW, I homeschooled my daughter, too, until we moved back to Texas from Florida. Have you heard what Perry did with the textbooks? For decades liberals have been writing our textbooks....anti-God, anti-Christian, amoral, etc. Perry took them on. It took years and years as governor, but he finally fired all the people who were appointing all those liberals -- it was a big stink and made national news -- but he finally got to the actual committee and LET THEM GO. He replaced them all with conservatives you promptly rewrote the textbooks. No more liberal brainwashing in Texas.

But wait, there's more! Since Texas is such a big state, with such "buying power," publishers defer to us. That means that the textbooks offered to many other states are dictated by what Texas requires. So.....Rick Perry single-handedly changed the education of children in Texas (and many other states) from the liberal garbage to just the facts. He did it. He did it alone. He didn't even campaign on it. He just took it on because it was the "right" thing to do. Without the legislature's help or support. And he was CRUCIFIED for it in the media, like everything else he ever does. There are so many reasons to love this man. He has plenty of faults, but he loves this country and our kids and is a solid Christian in everything he does. That's why they hate him.

No, no. You didn’t get the posts wrong. I was just commenting on your comment. You’re obviously new to the war going on between the Perry haters and supporters. Sorry. It’s pretty ugly. I was just giving you some support.

I don’t argue with you there. The fact is, they do. Our laws are such a cluster...mess, so tangled. We need to get back to the Constitution, and our medical choices should not be limited by insurance companies.

TOTALLY wrong. Gardasil is NOT a “cancer vaccine”. It supposedly prevents SOME, not all, strains of HPV, a sexually transmitted disease. If they thought this wouldeliminate cervical cancer, they’re dumber than I thought.

You can Google Perry and Israel and see. He's very serious about our security.

Just got your last post.

Guess it was you. I just mistook your first response I guess. Guess it's getting late, and I need to get to bed! LOL

Knowing Rick Perry is "in the news" right now, I have been studying his border security measures and somewhat understand his stands and actions on border security. I am quite impressed he has listened to the recommendations of the Border Sheriff's in the use of "boots on the ground" with strategic urban fencing. I have also heard his stand on using visual technology and aircraft (drones).

I did NOT know he got some of those ideas from personally modeling Israel. I thought most of his decisions had come from his following the recommendations of law enforcement officers here.

It was because I had been studying his stands and practices on border security, and thinking a lot of it came from local law enforcement recommendations that may me sit up and shot "Wow... Interesting" when I saw your post that some was actually out of modeling Israel. That just was so surprising to me. It was a pleasant surprise. I think it was a good idea to see what Israel, one of the most dangerous places in the world, did.

Well, from putting both of your posts together, I am guessing my earlier post to you must have sounded really weird to you somehow. I'm not sure what I did, but it must have come off oddly for some reason.

I figured I had better take the time to let you know, since I now know it WAS you who posted that, why I had such a reaction. Like I mentioned, I have been trying to really study this issue, especially since it is one many either don't understand, don't like what some of the various candidates are doing, or don't have enough info or understanding on what each of the candidates really are doing.

I thought I had found quite a bit of information already!

Then I saw your post that combined the Bush dislike of Perry (which I had heard about but never knew WHY) and I also heard the Israel border safety model for Texas (which I had not discovered as yet either). Those two little things (are they little? lol) just totally surprised me out of the blue!

So maybe I'm not so sleepy after all. I did get it right that it was you.

However, if I came off somehow oddly, as I feel I must have from you telling me no one is listening to me, then please forgive me. I really was just interested in what you had just said.

Gardisil most certainly IS a cervical-cancer vaccine. Cervical cancer is CAUSED by HPV, a sexually transmitted virus.
Oops. Did I just out someone you know?

The authentic Rick is standing

Yep, sure is, right next to his buddy the newly invented conservative AlGore from the days of yesteryear.

My guess is he's going to make Romney his VP pick and make AlGore the head of the EPA.

Getty-up rhinestone cowboy :^)

That is not the same thing, and the vaccine companies admit it. It does NOT prevent cervical cancer, it can prevent some strains of HPV which can cause SOME cervical cancers.

Perry now says:

“I agreed with their decision. I don’t always get it right, but I darn sure listen,” he said of the legislature responding to his decision.

“One of the things I do pride myself on, I listen. When the electorate says, ‘Hey, that’s not what we want to do,’” Perry told Houston’s ABC affiliate on Monday. “We backed up, took a look at what we did. I understand I work for the people, not the other way around.”

Had he really reacted this way this wouldn't be much of a story. However, what he did and said when the people and the Republican legislature overturned his EO is far from the picture he paints now.

In response to the legislature’s rebuke, the infuriated governor attacked those who supported repeal as “shameful” spreaders of “misinformation” who were putting “women’s lives” at risk. Borrowing a tried-and-true Alinskyite page from the progressive left, Perry surrounded himself with female cervical cancer victims and deflected criticism of his imperial tactics with emotional anecdotes.

He then lionized himself and the minority of politicians who voted against repeal of his Gardasil order. “They will never have to think twice about whether they did the right thing. No lost lives will occupy the confines of their conscience, sacrificed on the altar of political expediency.”

I agree that Gardasil was not one of the best decisions Rick Perry has ever made. It sounds like his heart was in the right place, but his thinking did not do him justice on that one. His parents had died from cancer, and his wife is a nurse. He let his heart lead, and it was just not a good decision. At least once he realized the people of Texas were not going to stand for it, he honored the voters and finally (and I will say finally because he was being bull headed for a while, lol) stepped back on the issue which is by FAR better than what Obama and his thugs have done with Obamacare!

IF you are representative of Governor Perry you both can stay in Texas.

Why was Perry speaking to La Raza in July 2010? Why was he at the Bilderberg Meeting in 2007? What was the legislation he signed with Acorn standing behind him?

Gov. Palin hasn’t been to any La Raza meetings, hasn’t gone to the Bilderberg meetings, and has never signed Acorn backed legislation.

The election of 2012 is the country class vs. the ruling class. We can’t beat Obama with another elitist establishment Republican.

Don’t tell me what to worry about. I worry about lots of things of which you have no knowledge, Slick Rick among them.

Lol. Cas, you're amazing. I am so happy to hear that someone is actually researching Perry instead of just trashing him based on Google's primary info (what side are they on, anyway -- OH! They're liberals!). There is subtlety, and the truth is there for those who want it. Texas has a huge border. It's complicated.

Anyway, I understand completely the confusion. The posts come at odd times.

Good night!

"No worries" means "No worries here."

I'm sorry you didn't understand that.

Good luck with your "Slick Rick" worries. Good night.
