Jerry Brown calls for high speed rail to move forward

Gov. Jerry Brown said this afternoon that California's embattled high-speed rail project should move forward, despite growing criticism about the project's management and cost.

While the nation is in a "period of massive retrenchment," Brown told The Fresno Bee's editorial board, "I would like to be part of the group that gets America to think big again."

The Democratic governor has said little publicly about the project since it came under fire this year in Sacramento, with cost estimates rising and lawmakers questioning its oversight. The project, to connect San Francisco and Los Angeles, was once expected to cost about $43 billion, a figure the California High-Speed Rail Authority is expected to update this fall.

Brown said he is "really getting into" the project . . .

Oh, Jerry, please!!! High speed rail is a crony capitalist dream and a union boondoggle to boot. It isn't thinking big. Its more of the same taking from the taxpayers to give to your supporters for a project that no one really wants. Want to think big? Pay down your debt before California completely swirls down the toilet.

The ‘bullet’ train should be named after Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, because CA needs it like a hole in the head.

It would be cheaper to pay Californians to drive to New Mexico to ride that loser.

A liberal Democrats idea of thinking big is how much money can he waste. Jerry wants to put NM Gov Richardson to shame who only spent $800 million on his losing train that is costing New Mexicans $60 million per year.

Estimates for capital costs have already leaped to a colossal $100 million per mile. How high does he want them to go?—$222 million per mile, like Alexander Kummant’s 200-mph parallel railroad to the Northeast Corridor between Boston and Washington . . . ?

Are there any reporters with the balls that will ask this low grade moron how much campaign money he is receiving from the high speed rail thugs?

That's where he wants the next $Trillion to go.
