These heavily subsidized machines operate around 30% of the time around here. There must be a natural gas power plant willing to feed the system during the other 70% of the time. This a total waste of money with bad side effects all around. There are laws and regulations which apparently mandate these boondoggles. Watch the electrical rate increases...

Yes, that's why wind farms have to be backed up by 100% conventional capacity. Once we've run out of older plants that can be placed on standby, when we build or solar, we'll build coal or nuclear of the same capacity, or change the regulations. Blackouts aren't bad, the founders wouldn't have complained.
