And that is one of the basis of this suit - there is nothing honest about this crap.
Altria Group Inc., parent company of the nation's largest cigarette maker, Philip Morris USA, is not a part of the lawsuit.
the reason Altria is NOT a part of this is because they pushed for it. They have been complicit in EVERY bit of restrictions against the industry the government has thrown at it. They support it because the government is giving them favorable treatment in other aspects of regulations that favor them maintaining their market share.
Philip Morris needs to be brought down for the pawns of the nanny state devils they are.
Waddya get Madz?
Hey I got a tumor!, someone else gotta removed lung. It was a big joke...
Cheapest ciggies cost close to $15AUD and brand name could cost $18/22AUD per pack.
“What next, full size autos with a decal of people eating dog food while they put gas in their guzzler, or on a plane ticket showing a terrorist with a box cutter.”
How about photos of mangled bodies in car wrecks on beer cans.
Back in oh, 2002, I went down to Grand Caman for a vacation. Lots of Eropeans there, and sitting at a bar, I noticed a cig pack of the guy next to me. It looked similar to what they’re proposing here, only it was text in big black lettering at the top No graphic images.
So the idea comes from our nanny state socialist cousins from across the pond.
But it is nothing new. The anti-smoker cartel has been using these type scams since at least the 90s.
There have been a number of documented cases of the use of doctored pigs’ lungs used in displays as allegedly being human lungs of smokers. In one such case it was the Delaware National Guard that got called on it. They actually stopped using that particular section of their youth outreach shortly after that. I must admit I truly enjoyed having that Colonel stammering when I explained to him exactly what parts of what they were preaching were actually false and proving it to him.
Better yet - on the sides of the NASCAR cars that are sponsored by the beer companies.
Tobacco companies are forbidden to advertise on those cars because it encourages kids to smoke, but advertising alcohol on cars doing 200mph doesn't encourage kids to drink - and drive?????
What is wrong with that picture?
**Maybe the loss of all that tax money would cause them to think twice**
NO, States are not that smart, so I guarantee the Feds are too DUMB too.
After a dumass NYS Judge said that NYS can force the Indians to pay $4.35 State tax PER PACK, My Reservation took ALL name brands of Cigs off their shelves.. they now only sell Indian made Cigs... they have a dozen or so diff brands. The LINE to by them have shortened ..a LITTLE, but not much.
Notice that Philip Morris is no where to be found on the list of tobacco companies that are upset - they help write SCHIP - they are the G(overment)M(otors) of tobacco companies....*spit*
The evil of the anti-smoking nanny state nazis goes back (at least) to the vile John Banzhaf. We can "thank" this idiot for ending the iconic, catchy and memorable jingle, "Winston tastes good...like a cigarette should".
The jerk Banzhaf is now on an anti-obesity crusade, targeting McDonald's.
Please do not get me started on Banzhaf - I would be here half the day. To say I dislike the man is such an understatement.
I hope they win..
and I get all kinds of crap from the anti smoking nazi’s around here.
It really ticks me off that the same govt that takes Millions in taxes from the tabacco companies want to make them sell less.
oh government logic isn’t logic at all.
What bugs me most is smoking is LEGAL in the US. LEGAL and the government including local governments tell smokers where they can smoke, what they need to see on the packs of tobacco they buy, and then taxes the crap out of the product.
It don’t make any sense at all.
oh and I don’t smoke.
