New York - The United States is stepping in to help bail out another American industry -- chicken farmers and meat processors. The nation's chicken industry is having a difficult year. Chicken producers are struggling with higher costs of running their business at the same time that consumers are buying less meat. This has created a glut of chicken products in the market. Total chicken production in the first half of 2011 rose 4% compared to the same period a year ago, while demand for chicken has cooled, (Snip) The Department of Agriculture, keenly aware of these issues, announced Monday

This is nothing to crow about although it will probably feather the beds of a lot of chicken plucking illegals that work in the industry and are paid scratch.
Roenigk hopes the latest government assistance quickly stabilizes prices for poultry producers.
While that would be a good thing for producers, it could happen at the expense of consumers since reducing supply tends to raise retail prices for the product.”
OK, High grain prices are hurting the chicken producers, so the government starts a program to force up the price of chicken in the supermarket?
Why can the dumb@sses do something to deal the the high price of grain? Dumping the stupid ethanol fuel subsidies would help the chicken ( and beef, pork) farmers without raising the price consumers pay.
LOL, those pluckers!
Obama's policies choke the chicken.
Don't be fooled by watching what the left hand is doing, while the right is working to keep socialism alive and open borders for the election in 2012
Ads today for two of our local grocery chains are showing whole chicken breasts (bone-in, skin-on) for $.88 and $.99 per pound. These are great for a million uses. I will cook some in the slow cooker, shred the meat, chicken enchiladas this weekend! If people struggling to afford food would load up on deals like this, it could make a difference in the overall quality of their diets (IMHO).
APB ..... PETA
We plan to supplement our chicken “footprint” with Muscovy duck.
So far, I have 4 adults and 24 new ducklings that hatched last week.
Sorry folks, but I hope to put the chicken suppliers out of business. LOL
“Chicken producers are struggling with higher costs of running their business...”
I would guess a large portion of the increase in costs is in feed...stop the wasteful practice of using corn for fuel - costs a lot to convert corn to ethanol for fuel and then the ethanol producers are subsidized...waste all around.
The chickens are comin’ home to roast.
I think Tyson is a major democrat contributor.
Well, take my cock and pullet.
Well they do need food for Greyhound One.
Everyone I know is buying & eating more chicken now than before. Beef isn’t on our menus very often anymore.
LOL!
The agency, blaming higher grain prices and a difficult economy, expects broiler meat production in the second-half of 2011 to fall below last year’s level and also anticipates broiler meat production to slow down in 2012.
So the government wastes $40 million in taxpayer money to prop up chicken prices which suffered higher prices due to the government propping up the corn/ethanol industry.”
Straight out of the pages of “Atlas Shrugged”!!!!
LMAO
The second and third cousins get chicken. The first line Baraqqis get Wagu beef and lobster.
“The Department of Agriculture, keenly aware of these issues, announced Monday...”
“A chicken bailout?”
In case you hadn’t noticed, iron-grip control of the food supply, food prices and agriculture was achieved by the federal government in the 1930’s. This has been going on for that long.
Expect Holder to investigate whether brown chickens are being treated unfavorably.
There is somewhat of a contradiction here. First, if there is a glut of chicken, wouldn't the prices be falling which will encourage more eating of chicken. Leave the problem alone and it will fix itself. Too bad, Dims, you think you have to micromanage everyone and everything.
