Perry is a conservative Democrat & master politician. He’ll run right to win the Primary and then center to win the nation. It is a solid strategy. The WH’s criticism of “his” Texas miracle is correct.
Once he’s the frontrunner, Palin will withdraw and anoint him.
I’m interested to see how he fairs against Romney. I don’t think the race will be between anyone else from now on. Bachmann will be a potential VP to shore up conservative credentials for both of them.
Although if Perry is seen as the “conservative” in the race he’ll have to go to the Country Club to get a VP candidate.
I don’t think there’s any way Bachmann is a VP pick. I give that zero chance.
“Although if Perry is seen as the conservative in the race hell have to go to the Country Club to get a VP candidate.”
Not necessarily. There are many who have suggested that he should choose Florida Senator Marco Rubio as his running mate. It would be awesome to have a Hispanic person on the ticket and we can reach out to the Hispanic voters. NOT pandering, but reaching out.
Gov. Perry once made a very interesting comment:
“The McCain folks totally blew it in my opinion on their immigration deal the moment they mentioned the word amnesty. When the word amnesty came inAmerican Hispanics dont want anybody getting amnesty. If you want to be an American citizen, get it the way I got it, thats how they think. The Hispanic voter is a very intuitive and a very expansive individual, one issue doesnt drive him. . . . They are strong family values people, they are religious, they are patriots, they are hard working. Gee, sounds like the GOP to me.
