As to your point, Perry's a successful three term governor of Texas and he did graduate Texas A&M. He might not be sitting around computing Pi in his spare time, but people who grow up poor and dumb don't rise to his level. Ever.
On paper, at least, he's more qualified than Barack Obama or Sarah Palin, and at least as qualified as George Bush or Hillary Clinton. I suppose if you like 'business' talking corporate raiders, then there's Mitt Romney. Any of those five are well above average in intelligence (if not common sense, perhaps), and I don't see any of them exactly blowing Perry out of the water in that column, either.

Thank God Perry did not get the economics indoctrination served in our nation’s universities. He would have learned that Keynesian economics was good and Capitalism was bad. What he did learn in economics, got him elected as Texas Agriculture Commissioner. How many with business degrees can do that?
