Oh, I’d disagree. I’d say Conservatives were wide awake in the ‘80s. It was Bush, Sr. who promised to be Reagan’s third term. Remember, too, that in 1988, other than Bush, there wasn’t really a clear-cut successor. As for the establishment RINO guys, they’ve been there for eons. They were trying to undermine Reagan back in the ‘60s when he ran for Governor of California (against “The guy who can win !” RINO George Christopher) and when he ran for President in ‘68, ‘76 & ‘80. One has to be eternally vigilant in battling them.

You may be right. I was young under Reagan, but I remember my dad cheering when he was elected like we'd all be saved.

It all boils down to dollars. The lib pubs have them, the conservatives don't. But we have the voters.
