I don't think that issue will have much bearing outside of Texas. It didn't hurt him in the last election and the Dims will have a tough time spinning it. They want open borders with a pipeline coming straight in from Mexico. They tried to tie the entire business up in cronyism, but it just didn't play with voters.
Most of the country has no idea how tough it is on border states, with illegals running rampant and the Federal Government, whose job it is to stop it, doing nothing. Look at Arizona---they took a stand and had the wrath of the liberal god come down on them.
