To vote for Perry and to support him now gives us the best chance we have to get rid of Obama.
If I could I would vote for Reagen...but he is dead. And if he were running, there would be those on this board who would find something wrong with him too and say proudly “I’ll vote Third Party!” Can they say Perot?
I will get my bumper sticker tomorrow and start the work to defeat Obama! Beyond ANY conservative candidate’s flaws ...my main goal is to get rid of Obama. then also get as many conservatives into the Senate an dcongress and locally as possible. That’s what grown ups do....
I wonder what these posters would say if Perry picks Bachman as VP?
You forget that lots of people were perfectly happy to vote Perot and get Clinton, just so they could send Washington a message.
I'm not sure what that message was. Bill Clinton threw the message away. Bush I, Bob Dole, and Bush II didn't seem to read it, either.
I guess Ralph Nader read it, though, and he did save us from Gore and Kerry. Fortunately for us, people on the left were just as happy to throw the election to Cowboy Boosh and Darth Halliburton, so they could send the Democrats a message.
I guess it's our turn to vote for the Super Awesome Party, to send Obama's second term a message, and then maybe President Barney Frank or President Chuck Schumer a message.
Yeah, messages!
I don’t know if that is true or not. But AT THE MOMENT, looking at the CURRENT ANNOUNCED CANDIDATES, it may be that Rick Perry is our best and only chance at stopping Romney.
The bad thing would be if Perry just splits conservative votes with Bachmann, and to a lesser extent Santorum and Cain, and then later Sarah Palin gets in and splits the conservative vote even further.
If Perry is a flash in the pan, it should show up in the polls; if Bachmann also fades like the anti-Bachmann people here keep telling us, that would leave a vacuum that Sarah Palin could fill, to beat Romney.
So the question is, will Perry and Bachmann both fade on their own? It’s hard to tell whether the attacks on them here aren’t just people who really want Palin and Only Palin, and realise that they need to discredit every other possible conservative candidate to clear the field.
There’s plenty of time for this to settle out; I just hope we don’t make the mistakes of 2008, and in search of the perfect conservative, we end up with another McCain-Type candidate.
If the 1986 era Reagan were running today, the Conservatively Holier Than Thou Brigade would be posting about "Ronaldo Reagan" the Open-Borders, Amnesty-Loving, Not-Fiscally-Conservative-Enough RINO.
They would then vote Third Party and help Obama get reelected.
