"I fully recognize and support a state's right and obligation to protect its citizens, but I have concerns with portions of the law passed in Arizona and believe it would not be the right direction for Texas," Perry said in a statement.
The law in question, signed by Arizona's governor last week, would require immigrants to carry documents verifying their immigration status. It would also require police officers to question a person about his or her immigration status if there is "reasonable suspicion" that person may be illegally in the country.

I know that this isn't breaking news but since Mr. Perry is such a popular choice it's important that we know eveything about him upfront.

In Texas, illegal aliens are the Feds fault, but in CA, it’s California’s fault, and they deserve everything they get.

Yes, the spammer community and trolls have made sure to post this several times. Unfortunately, they never bother to tell WHY he doesn't want it for Texas. Namely that it's UNCONSTITIONAL, and that border security is the job of the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT - on their dime.
Rick Perry took Obama on directly about border security and has been outspoken that until border security is addressed, NONE of the debates over immigration can take place.
But you go ahead and post your misleading information. Freepers are getting wise.

If you can show me where gov. Perry has solidly established his conservative credibility on the illegal immigration issue, I would sure appreciate it. Until I see that, however, I’m going to have to support Michele Bachmann as there is no question about her conservative credibility. None. She walks the walk.

Yes. Perry should take on all the issues, regardless of whether he has the authority or not. Good call, Paul.

You mean it is unconstitutional to ask for an ID, but it is constitutional to tax the crap out of me and give it to illegals. Damn and I thought communism was bad. Somebody has one upped them.

No. It’s the federal government’s job to deport. Not the state.

I’m a hard scrabble Palinista who can nevertheless fall back to support Mrs. Bachmann. We don’t need Rick Perry in this thing. But if he splits up some RINO votes with Romney, that could actually be a good thing.

OK, just so you know the playcard for today and any day Tempest where Perry Apologists are concerned here are the following rules:
1. If you post anything concerning Perry's past actions/history that shows him to be less than the Perry Apologists propaganda, you are a spammer, a Troll, a Communist, and quite possibly a member of DU.
2. If you post that Perry is the next Reagan and only he can win against Obama, you are an OK Freeper.
Hope that helps clear up the confusion.

El Hefe Ricardo Perry recieves a Mexican blanket from Governor Enrique Martinez of Coahuila, Mexico as a token of appreciation for Texas' Dream Act policy.

Yeah, see, it’s stuff like this, and the Gardasil thing, and the Trans-Texas Corridor thing, that make me less than enthusiastic about him.
