Obama embarks on campaign-style Midwest tour (Priority #1 for Obama? 'Getting Re-Elected' !)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama hits the road on Monday for a Midwestern bus tour that he hopes will leave doubts over his leadership behind in Washington.

But the three-day trip through Iowa, Minnesota and Illinois -- three states seen as vital to his 2012 re-election campaign -- could put him in front of voters who, polls show, are furious about political gridlock in the U.S. capital.

Iowa, which launched Obama's historic journey to the White House in 2008, has recently been playing host to Republican presidential hopefuls who have aggressively slammed his record as they criss-cross the state.

The White House says the president is on listening tour to hear from Americans about the economy and to talk about how to boost jobs and hiring. There are no plans for a major policy speech to roll out new initiatives for growth.

The unmistakable campaign style of the trip will help Obama, a Democrat, test his organization and grassroots support as the Republican presidential field begins to take shape.

Texas Governor Rick Perry entered the race for the Republican nomination on Saturday and is expected to join Mitt Romney and Michele Bachmann as one of the stronger Republican candidates. Bachmann won an Iowa straw poll on Saturday in the first big test for the Republican candidates.

White House communications Director Dan Pfeiffer said Iowa had a special connection for Obama and told reporters that the U.S. leader was excited to be able to finally escape from Washington.

His departure follows a brutal period of bad news that dented confidence in his leadership, particularly after a bitter debate over raising the U.S. debt limit that exposed deep partisanship bordering on government dysfunction.

The Texas economic model has existed since before the Tea Party evolved out of citizen’s concerns. It has been successful for the state. Obviously, Perry has helped make that economic model work.

The Texas economic model is now generally endorsed by many republicans at the national level, including Tea Party representatives, who have adopted it as their own. That includes Michelle Bachman, bless her heart.

The other large state economic model is California’s. It has failed at the state level. Obama and the democrats have largely adopted that model for the national level, where it is failing as well.

Does not seem to be much of a contest does it?

Well, when the unemployment rate's biting at the heels of your approval rating it's probably a good idea for an O`Blame`a Bus Tour.

The news gets better and better.

Now, having driven 0’s approval index to Negative 22, the 0 machine has decided they need to kick the campaign mode into hysteric overdrive.

This is NOT going to help.

Their whole problem is too many “Independent” voters are waking up to the fact 0 is a street agitator pretending to be a leader. Making him agitate more and lead less is not going to help them.

Obama is keeping his word. He said when the debt ceiling deal was over he would focus on jobs. That is exactly what he is doing, focusing on keeping HIS job.

He can’t do it on his accomplishimens, so, once again he will have to buy the presidency. And that takes LOTS of money. Votes are not cheap, even when you get them wholesale at Acorn.

the president is on listening tour to hear from Americans

I cannot believe this. So, obviously Obama is admitting that he has missed LISTENING to the Americans who have been clamoring at him and Congress for over a year. Hey, Obama, the TEA party patriots- made up of Americans of all political parties - have been telling you what they wanted via demonstrations all over the country, and in DC. Did you have a cob of corn in your ears?

I thought he was going on vacation this week? Please go already, Obumbles, and don’t publish any pictures. Everything you do in DC makes things worse.

Hope the patriots on the stops along the way will turn out and give him the welcome he deserves. ABCCBSNBCCNNMSNBC will never cover it but we need to continue to rattle their cage and provoke a full psychotic break so even the squishes will see these gangsters for who they are.

"are furious about political gridlock". Interesting. As long as I can remember, the country has embraced "gridlock" as way to just Stop the B.S. in Washington.

Doing a search of "political gridlock" it looks like the DNC faxed the phrase out, Obama used it, and all the news media picked it up like they were supposed to. This time, however, gridlock is being used as a euphemism for "increasing taxes".

The Dems have managed to flip the phrase 180 degrees.

could put him in front of voters who, polls show, are furious about political gridlock in the U.S. capital

Didn't he campaign as the great uniter and the one who would end partisan politics last time? Most voters recognize he is part of the problem. Just another partisan, political hack with a blind marxist driven agenda. Anyone who listens to any of his speeches (if they still have enough stomach to do that) will realize what a friggin liar he is.
