Ex-NBC News Chief Gartner: People Don’t Blame Obama ‘for Anything That’s Wrong in This Country
Newsbusters ^ | 8/14/11 | Brent Baker

Asked how Iowans view President Barack Obama, Michael Gartner, the President of NBC News from 1988 to 1993, insisted on this weekend’s Bloomberg TV’s Political Capital: “I think people have a fondness for him and I don’t think people blame him for anything that’s wrong in this country,” except, that is, “the far-right of the Republican Party.”

For the Bloomberg TV show which first runs on Friday nights, Al Hunt interviewed Gartner, an Iowa native, at a game of the Iowa Cubs, the Triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs which Gartner co-owns.

From the end of the August 12 Bloomberg interview:

AL HUNT: What kind of shape is Barack Obama in for the 2012 campaign in Iowa?

MICHAEL GARTNER: I think he’s in pretty good shape. First of all, people out here have an attachment to him because he was out here. I think people have a fondness for him and I don’t think people blame him for anything that’s wrong in this country, unless – I think the far-right of the Republican Party does, but I don’t think the moderates do and certainly the Democrats don’t. He generally shows up quite well in Seltzer’s Iowa poll.

That’s the Des Moines Register’s “Iowa Poll” and in the latest one Obama ticked up to a 48 to 47 percent approval over disapproval, so unless Gartner thinks 47 percent of Iowans are part of the “far-right,” a lot more than just them blame Obama for something.

The White House Insider: The Obama Plan, part one

“The president actually considered quitting. He really did. But now he’s going on the attack. He wants to give a big F-You to White America - that’s actually one of his primary motivations. You think the race card has been played up before? Just wait. 2012 is gonna be the most brutal political cycle we have ever witnessed. Ever.”

*********************************************************

This is the result when an egomaniacal narcissist fails - he tries to punish and destroy everything around him. He WILL attempt to instigate a race war, of that I am now certain.

The MSM is in deep, deep denial about Obama. No good for America will come from this situation. It’s too bad he didn’t quit, in my opinion.

Yes, but many of us “non-people”, otherwise know as voters, think he is responsible for most problems in this country.

Do me a favor and watch a Nascar race on ESPN. The players do not blame Ernie Ervan.

These people must come from another planet.

Obama is down to 39% approval rating and this dipwad doesn't think anyone holds it against Obama.

Is he really that stupid?

That’s funny. I had a liberal apologize to me for falling for Obama’s lies and now sounding like a conservative. I mean, he is wanting Bachman for President. If Obama can completely change this guy from hard core social justice liberal to conservative, Obama is in big, big trouble.

That’s interesting. Most 0bama supporters won’t admit they made a bad mistake. I agree with you: 0bama is in deep trouble. He’s going to do some ugly things if he thinks he’s going down. Not that he hasn’t done ugly things up to now but he will be like a cornered rabbid dog.

Many folks are not paying taxes at the moment, despite having paid for their entire working lives, because they have lost their jobs, lost their business or are hanging on to their livelihood by their fingernails.

Retired people on SS paid into it, like it or not, all their working lives. They are not *takers*, per se. For many, it is barely enough to pay their heating bills. To add insult to injury, they have that retirement subsidy deducted for the cost of Medicare and then, they have to pay again for a supplemental policy because Medicare doesn’t pay much, but the patient is still liable.

Formerly high earners have spent time on Food Stamps in the past 3 years, through no fault of their own. Not us and I know several families who would be eligible, but are managing, but still a lot of folks have absolutely no choice. Many would gladly not have to take the subsidy.

It isn’t as simple any longer as who is taxed and who is subsidized. That is one of the sneaky ways this administration has changed America.

We do fit some of the above criteria and we hate zerO and will vote AB0 in the General, even if our favorite candidates do not make it past the primary.

I wonder what he’ll think IF he looks at today’s Gallup poll showing the Usurper at a record low of 39%? Must be an awfully big Tea Party out there! LOL.

Two of my supposedly intelligent Obama-voting sisters hope Michele Bachmann is the nominee because they can't stand her ("too Christian") and believe she can be easily beaten.

You’re certainly right about that.

Eric, please disregard my remark about the Fuherbunker. I got my reply mixed up.
