If Jeb Bushs name were Jeb Smith, hed be the next president of the United States, says Texas governor Rick Perry, and then theres a long pause in the conversation to let pass the unspoken corollary: And if Rick Perry were the governor of Florida . . .
People constantly ask Governor Perry if hes thinking about running for president. In fact, they ask him if hes thinking about running for president so often that by now he almost certainly must be thinking about running for president, even if he wasnt thinking about it before. He plays down that sort of thing (except when he doesnt) and protests that hes got plenty to keep him busy in Austin. And he is busy: Hes hip-deep in a ferocious fight to balance the state budget without instituting new taxes or liquidating the states rainy-day fund. He has a long list of parochial Texas action-items on his gubernatorial to-do list, like pushing down the cost of a bachelors degree from a state university to $10,000 and keeping his bespoke boot heel on the neck of the trial lawyers. But hes also very busy in his campaign to renew or reinvent American federalism, taking an extraordinarily robust view of states sovereignty and an extraordinarily restrictive view of the enumerated powers listed in Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution. Hes written a book about the subject, Fed Up!, which is an order of magnitude more crotchety and idiosyncratic than your average raising-my-national-profile book. (He also published a very personal and occasionally hot-tempered defense of the Boy Scouts, On My Honor, lambasting the feminists and organized homosexuality in a way that suggests hes not much interested in a Mitch Danielsstyle truce on the social issues.)

Rick Perry sent the Texas Rangers to the border to help secure it
##
How many did he send? What results did they achieve?
There are only around 150 Texas Rangers, so you figure it out. He did what he could do. It’s not as if he has the U.S. military at his disposal. Obama refused him. Put the blame where it belongs. I blame the Feds not the states for the border problems since it is their duty to protect the border As much as I would liked to blame it on Obama he’s just the latest in a long line of presidents who haven’t addressed the problem. The dereliction of duty goes way back.
I was just wondering since I keep hearing that he sent the Rangers to the Border but can’t find any information on how many were sent and what they did there.
I would think that how many he sent, what their instructions were and what their results were would be something people should know.
I guess that information is a secrete since nobody else seems to know either.
Rick Bush...
Yeah. I mean, there's no facts to back that up, but yeah, totally.
He supports Mexico president Foxs position on OPEN BORDERS
No he doesn't. If you read the full quote, he was talking about a border like what we have with Canada, not now, but some day in the distant future when Mexicans aren't trying to break into the U.S. for jobs.
Hey, do ya support in-state tuition for illegal aliens in CA, and is California’s illegal alien problem caused by the corrupt running the state, or their co-conspirators in D.C.?
We heard Rick Bush, I mean President Perry...(Sounds French) on the radio yesterday...I swear, the man sounds exactly like Bush...

Was that unqualified open borders?
Or was there a greater context and were there qualifications to his statements?
Some credible sources would be nice.
