Rick Perry, who entered the 2012 GOP race Saturday, greeted his first crowd of voters here with two words rarely heard in these parts: with a wave, he let out a boisterous “Hi, y’all” to a crowd clad in khakis and button ups gathered around a backyard pool.
There was also this: “Y’all holler outta question” to open up a question and answer session.
And this when it got going: “There’s hands going up everywhere, somebody just get after it.”
There were times when the three-term Texas governor sounded eerily like the “Saturday Night Live” version of George W. Bush, droppin’ every “g” and proclaiming “awesome” at nothing in particular.
His appearance raised the question that is at the center of his candidacy: Can Perry take his Texas twang on the road and meet voters where they live, in cities and suburbs and swing states?

He was also the Agricultural Commissioner, and before that he was part of the legislature. They called him the pit bull because he was ruthless at cutting things from the budget.

Having read these posts it has become clear that I must contrive yet another remedy for yet another one of your maladies which afflict you and that is a phobic abhorrence of punctuation, particularly the use of periods. I look through all your posts and fail to see a single period used by you today, Sunday. There were dots aplenty in evidence sometimes appearing in pairs, sometimes in threes, and even often in groups of fours. There were 4 or 5 exclamation points and a couple of question marks but the single "dot" was conspicuous by its absence. It's conventionally used to mark the end of a sentence.
I am not as you presume a professor but anyone could hardly fail to note the childishness of your punctuation keeping pace with the virulence of your posts. It is not on my own behalf, or even on behalf of the people listed above whom you have insulted today that I point out the churlishness and childishness of the replies with which you have polluted the best conservative website in the world. I object to you because you degrade and disgrace Free Republic. It is egoists like you who present the mirror image of Democrat Underground to the world as the face of Free Republic.
Perhaps those you insulted and other readers would like to have another chance to read about your pathology:
Fine, no skin off my back. Look around the threads and see what others have to say about the office. Do a search for Texas governor’s duties and then compare the results to the same for lt. gov. This just proves my point that out of staters don’t know as much as what they think they do so they shouldn’t flame those of us who have lived in Texas and vote (nose held) for him twice (and not wanting to do it a third time).
He was W’s Lt. Gov. W. didn’t like him. In Texas, the Gov. and Lt. Gov. run on separate tickets and don’t even have to be of the same party. They are elected for a term of 4 years and there are no term limits.
So Con Man, evidently has piss poor judgment ability.

I’m leaning toward Cain. America needs a businessman right now, not another career politician. Hopefully, he’ll get more publicity as time goes by. Don’t know that Palin will ever throw her hat in or if the public will allow her to pursue the race or if they’ll pile on more horse hockey. While she’s one to stick by her guns and she’d bring back the respect we need from the rest of the world, I see the horrid msm most likely wouldn’t let her do the job. Bachmann has potential but, imo, is a bit wishy washy and I don’t know that much about her other than what I’ve read or seen on tv the last few weeks. OTOH, Paul and Romney are big no way, no hows. But, we’re a long way from the finish line so anything can happen.
Texas primaries are a whole ‘nuther animal.

Congratulations on the first use by you of a period today but you guessed wrong, you should have used a question mark in that spot. Why don't you try another place? Maybe where you see all those little dots might work.
I’ve told you how many times I don’t hate him. I don’t believe we need a career politician who’s as liberal as he is. You want an open border, fine, he’s your man. You want someone giving perks to friends at taxpayers’ expense, fine, he’s your man. You think the nation is ready for another Texas president after the Bush family, fine, go for it. But if your reasoning for voting for him is because you don’t like what I type, then our country hasn’t learned much from this last time it threw away votes.
