I really did not know of the protocol of “howdy” at Texas A & M.

I really don’t know anything about the various intricacies of colleges and their traditions and rivalries in Texas, but I will say it seems to rival the complexity of Burke’s Peerage to a yankee like myself.

Fwiw, I thought Perry came across as great in his speech. Very authentic and down to earth.

And he did seem, more than anybody else I’ve seen, even Bachmann, to have the old “fire in the belly”. He seemed to really want to run for president and to win and to be president.

Of course, he came across as though he is always that way about everything. I imagine if he was your dad and he said “Kids, let’s go get ice cream” you know you’d be getting some ice cream, probably 3 scoops!

That might play very well against Obama’s “on the one hand, on the other hand” BS.

However, I know Obama buys his girls ice cream often and is concerned about illegal immigrants and their ability to go get ice cream, and in terms of all that I imagine he and Perry are equally matched.

I think before people start spouting off about “Perry this...and Perry that”, they need to get their facts confirmed and ducks in a row; there’s a lot of BS out there about him and the Texas economy. We are doing just fine.
