true...within that window

it tickles me though

freepers love polls when the winner is who they want...I actually own polls that do not say what I want to hear and fully expected Paul to win this one and I am happy he didn’t and I’m happy to see Romney stalling out a bit

I like both girls but only one is running now

Would those here decrying the straw poll be slamming it so had Palin been in and won?

reminds me of right before 2008 election when almost every poll was bad for our side and folks would dismiss them as lies or stilted and that polls were all lies from Dewey on

then some outlier would be somewhat trending favorable and all of a sudden that poll was basically direct from Mt Sinai and was a poll that could be trusted

many freepers believe what they like to believe...truth is an inconvenience

Jim Robinson hisself is on another thread giving a hearty congrats to Bachmann even in the midst of some Palin supporters lobbing turds in the punch bowl

so I think I’ll share in that enthusiasm that a social conservaive won the Ames poll and has been leading most media polls

it has been 27 years since a social conservative has done that is GOP ranks consistently...Robertson won in Ames 1987 but I am unaware of any media polls in which he went past single digit midget status...I don’t think Phil Gramm won any either...he may have tied in mid 90s but he never got media polling headway....what Bachmann has done is new since Reagan..poll wise for a social righty...now Palin may crush that and Perry will eat away at it...but for now it’s encouraging....to have to pick between the girls would suit me fine....Perry...third on my “has a chance” list

I agree. I think it’s very encouraging. I just don’t think this poll is a problem at all if Sarah decides to run. Which I hope she does.

I don’t think Palin or her supporters were trying to get votes in the straw poll because they don’t need to. Its great for Bachman to get the media attention but Palin gets more press just by showing up to the fair.

I forgot about Bush senior in ‘79 that won the poll and the caucus, so it is 3 out of 5 as you said. Sorry about that. Still not a big deal as far as I’m concerned.

How can you possibly say that? There is NO evidence of that--it's over for Sarah Palin this year. She got THIRTY FIVE votes yesterday--THIRTY FIVE. Rick Perry got over SEVEN HUNDRED. This is the reality and Palin was in Iowa on Friday.

She's respected, well liked but there is no demand for her to run for president.

If it's any consolation, look at Romney's showing--it was dismal. There is no good news in yesterday's results for Romney, either.

Santorum now on FOX. He did really well and among those I know, Santorum is everyone's second choice.

I doubt we chose the winner this year, either. I consider our job to choose the losers. Those on the bottom need to drop out.

I can say it because:

1) I know Sarah
2) I believe
3) I know politics

Fine, but even Pawlenty has now accepted the reality of the situation. You have to give Palin credit, she’s not spent anything running for president but there are some mighty good people here on the ground who have spent their own time and money working their hearts out for Palin, for this. They have been duped.

I figured she would get more, too

How do we know exactly how many votes she got? Was it posted by the Iowa Straw Poll?

Organized or not, I would think that most people in Iowa have a tv, computer or radio and know who Sarah Palin is, and that she would have some supporters there. Not even 35? Something is just wrong with that.

Do you understand that to vote you had to buy a $30.00 ticket? Palin supporters would rather the money go to Palin and not the GOP. Most are pretty disgusted with said organization.

I would not put it past the GOP to deliberately under report Palin’s write-ins. Not for a minute. They do not want her because they can not control her, which is why I like her so very much.

Among the many people I know who attended the Straw Poll, the only ones who paid for their own tickets were Paulistinians. Some folks bragged about getting a ticket from more than one candidate. If Palin backers didn’t give away tickets, she wouldn’t get many votes.

And don’t forget, despite how it’s portrayed in the press, Iowa is not especially conservative.

That’s because Perry is a establishment Republican, which means New World Order Socialist, aka NWOS........

He supports President Fox’s open US border goal......

Hannity broadcast from Iowa last night. At the mid-point of the hour he had a three person panel set-up to discuss the event.

Hannity kicked it off with an impromptu "poll".

He turned to the crowd and asked, "Do you want to see Palin get into the race?"

The answer was loud and clear and it was "NO!"

Hannity was damn near flummoxed.

Sort of seems like FOX is downplaying her. FOX & Friends this morning...comment at the end of Ann Coulter interview was “wow, four hours into the show and Palin’s name not mentioned”.

Maybe FOX knows something, like that she's not running.

On that note, if she is in fact not running then IMO, her practice of showing up to steal the spotlight from those who are in the race is nothing short of shameless self-promotion.

If Paul is the GOP nominee, I will vote for him. We have got to get rid of Obama and his ilk.

Joe Trippi? What did Bob Shrum think? Or David Axelrod.

Yep, now I’m positive you’re just a Dem plant.

“Governor Palin is the de-facto head of the conservative wing of the Republican Party”

Chuckle. Nope, that’s Rush Limbaugh.

You do know what that t-shirt Actually says, right.

“I am MOM”

That’s her real subliminal message. She’s a mom, not a Presidential candidate. And that’s not a bad thing.
