As an elected official and a "proud black man" in the nation's fifth-largest city, Nutter felt he had to go a step beyond ordering a law enforcement crackdown.
So he channeled the spirit of another straight-talking Philadelphian: Bill Cosby. Nutter took to the pulpit at his church last weekend and gave an impassioned, old-fashioned talking-to directed at the swarms of teens who have been using social networks to arrange violent sprees downtown, injuring victims and damaging property. Moreover, he called out parents for not doing a better job raising their children.
"You've damaged yourself, you've damaged another person, you've damaged your peers and, quite honestly, you've damaged your own race," Nutter said at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.

The Mayor is correct. You know, maybe if the black community would take on some responsibility for the actions of the delinquents, would work for a living instead of looking for a handout from the government, would stop making their women pregnant and leave them holding the bag, would stop having sex before graduation junior high, and needing a handout...
well, maybe then people would recognize they are just like the rest of us.

I'm sorry, but why would Nutter tell parents of flash mob children you are damaging your own race ?
When my idiot white son committed a crime I didn't think his crime was reflecting on his entire race...
Why would the mayor say such a thing...that crimes committed by black children reflect on their race...unless it makes them all victims ?
Because these black "children" are racially motivated in these attacks - they are attacking white people because they are white. Nutter still had to maintain a certain amount of political correctness here.....

The problem with asking ‘Black men’ to fix the problem is that the ‘inner city’ culture may seem dominated by the male hoods but ultimately young men respond to the incentives provided by their women. If women will not control themselves and, in fact, select OUT good, decent men in favor of thugs, then more men will act out in a manner conducive to securing female companionship. Also, we are dealing with a sub-culture that is matriarchal in fact but still responds very well to strong patriarchal authority.
The removal of the safety net would probably prompt a more rapid response than any of the continuing and often failed attempts by groups of noble black men to solve the problem. It’s up to women to be proper gatekeepers to sex and the only way I think that’s really going to happen is by removing the safety net (though it is not the only way that will change)
By safety net are you referring to government intervention, ie welfare? Because I have thought that for years.
