I read that as well and it seems to be the #1 attack on him. I did some research and learned that the drug was already being provided at no cost to low income people in Texas. Insurance companies would not cover the vaccine for regular tax payers unless it was on the states list of "mandated" vaccinations. What is not usually mentioned though is that the governor's "forced" vaccination policy included an opt-out provision for parents. The opt-out was made even easier by Perry by putting it online.
If a parent can easily opt-out, I'm not sure how it can be called "forced" "mandatory" etc etc.
I'm relatively new to this issue and would welcome any additional info on this from Perry critics.
