Palin: “Could I Support Somebody Like Mitt Romney? Yeah”…

DES MOINES, Iowa — 2008 GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin said Friday that she still hasn’t decided if she’s going to run for president. Palin is also undecided about whom she would endorse if she ultimately decided against entering the race.

Swarmed by media and supporters at the Iowa State Fair, the former governor of Alaska told The Daily Caller that she’s not concerned that Mitt Romney is considered the frontrunner at this time.

“No, nothing worries me at this point,” Palin told TheDC. “Could I support somebody like Mitt Romney? Yeah.”

When TheDC pointed out that some tea partiers have pledged to make sure Romney doesn’t get the nomination, Palin said, “I’m of the mind of ABO — Anybody But Obama, at this time.”

I don’t understand what’s the matter with some of these idiot people. Romney is not acceptable and he’s not going to be our TEA Party GOP nominee.

Ron Paul isn't even a republican is he? Sounds more like a libertarian. His foreign policy views are outright scary. They say conservatism and liberalism at extremes actually meet at some point. If so, Ron Paul must be standing on that very line where the two meet. LOL!

It's a scary place on that line I would imagine. Wierd neighborhood. Ralph Nader being the next house to your left and you can probably smell Michael Moore from down the street.

I am scared of lightning. Do you mind if I put a few hundred yards distance between us?

If that puts you closer to the Obama camp, I'd be more afraid for you!

I'm with Sarah on this one - being ABO doesn't mean endorsing Romney or even supporting him - but it does mean making sure Obama doesn't get back in the White House.

My personal favorite is Herman Cain - I don't think he stands a chance, but he's what we need, IMHO. But if it ends up being Perry, or Romney, or anyone - including Sarah or Michelle (or hopefully Cain) - I'll gladly vote for them as I am certain all of them would be much better for the nation than another 4 years of President Obama.

I'm not going to do a search, so I hope you are telling the truth. Pardon me if I doubt it, but for now I'll simply apologize if I'm wrong.

DeMint has repeatedly said he's not interested in running, so you might want to rethink that answer. Hope is not a strategy, particularly if it has no basis in reality.

Best of luck to you.......

That is not a decision. It is the correct answer to a reporters gotcha question. Questions like that fool people like you every time. Politics is not for amateurs.

Oh, well don't worry then. I'm not mocking JimRob. I'm mocking childish tattletales who feel like they have to "tell on" other people to JimRob.

You see, the GOP and RNC is counting on you, and every other conservative to hold their nose again. And because of that, they'll push the biggest RINO they can because they know the conservatives will fall in line. We will NEVER get a real conservative if the GOP keeps taking us for granted- and then stabbing us in the back later. And every time a RINO gets the nod, a piece of real conservatism dies.

Finally, someone gets it!

Thank you for your well reasoned post; you're saying it a helluva lot better than I have in my own attempt!

Yep. I hear you. The only reason I remain a registered Republican is so I can vote in the primary for a true conservative.

In the general I’d still rather have a RINO than 4 more years of Obozo. That would destroy what’s left of this once great country. A write in vote means one more vote for Obozo.

I don't know what your problem is, but you obviously have a few. The idea of the all volunteer force is that those who wish to serve in the armed forces can do so if they meet certain criteria. None are compelled to do so. Do you prefer a form of involuntary service? If so, why? I spent my adult life either in uniform or working for one military service or the other. I personally experienced the draft era and the all volunteer era and I would never wish to return to the conscript forces. If the Romney's have no interest in wearing a uniform it in no way diminishes their fitness for elective office.

The same pretty much goes for a person's religion. (Islam is an exception as it is an ideology that owns a religion and its adherents primary loyalty is to that ideology not any nation state they are citizens of.) personally I prefer the church of Joseph Smith over the church of Jeremiah Wright.

Finally I find your worldview a bit odd
for this forum. Most of the people here are believers in the exercise of individual freedom to the maximum degree consistent with the preservation of public liberty. Litmus tests based on the exercise of confessional faith and involuntary service to the state are more appropriate to statist regimes such as Franco's Spain rather than a free republic.

I would say it doesn't matter for a jigger.

That's the whole point, dontcha think? He F'ed up with that endorsement. I think DeMint is golden, regardless of his screw-up. If though, one goes by your absolutist philosophy, then DeMint would be gone. In fact, NO ONE would be left.

I admire both Palin and Demint, put them in the same camp philosophically. Conservatism AND love of country kinda do it for me. Both show THAT in spades...

THIS-—> “I’ll write someone in or see who the Constitution Party is running. You see, the GOP and RNC is counting on you, and every other conservative to hold their nose again. Right now Sarah has my vote if she wants it. This is one of the times I disagree with her though, and rintense spells out why. That said, I am waiting to see if she enters or not before I write a check or lift a hand to help any distant second choice in the primary.

His house, his call. His reasons. Done.

The fact that it's his call to zot or not to zot is not the point I'm discussing here, but because he was pinged by some who say ejdrapes posted a misleading article, well that's not a consensus by everyone on this thread contrary to what some of you try to claim, the article write-up clearly states that Palin said ABO and that would have to include Romney if he gets the nod.

I think Jim's position is he will not tolerate anyone pushing Romney right now on the lead up to the nomination on his site, and I didn't see ejdrapes as doing that. Now what Jim's position will be IF Romney gets the nod is another story but apparently Sarah will support Romney over Obama and so will a lot of others if it comes down to that, that's all I got from the ejdrapes posting of this thread.

Well, uh...why do you think I care either way?

DeMint has repeatedly said he's not interested in running, so you might want to rethink that answer. Hope is not a strategy, particularly if it has no basis in reality.

Frankly, with the current field, hope's all I got.
