Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson is warning that the city may run out of money unless a financial recovery plan is approved.
Thompson told City Council on Tuesday night that the city must make a $3.3 million bond payment in mid-September. Without a plan in place, she said that would leave the city unable to pay its nearly 500 employees and provide basic services.

Thompson is Harrisburg’s first female and first black mayor. And a Democrat.
Hey Linda, here’s a hint: When I start to get a little short, I can’t go to Uncle Sugar for a handout and I can’t raise taxes, so I cut back a little bit on spending. Funny how politician, especially dims, never seem to grasp that concept.
Harrisburg has ben a financial mess for years.
They have never been able to get the Pie-In-The-Sky “Green!” municipal trash incinerator/Powerplant to work, whose ill-fated expansion was promoted as a potential moneymaker.
But after seven years of cost overruns, construction delays, design problems, financings, refinancings and more refinancings, the city is on the hook. They owe $288 million dollars on this Liberal FAIL, and it’s debt costs are more than the city budge.
