I’d say he’s had two: his minor role in the original Little Shop of Horrors, and his bit part in Easy Rider.
Gibson is a limited actor who either plays manic or vengeful. Nicholson’s early work consisted of full blooded, three dimensional characters: Five Easy Pieces, The King of Marvin Gardens, Chinatown.
