The clear winner tonight was Newt Gingrich. I think he managed to revive a flagging campaign with his extensive command of political history and also a plan of action for now, today.
I think Herman Cain (I'll admit bias, as I am a firm supporter) came in a close second. He displayed a good mix of personality and policy points.
The Bachmann/Pawlenty food fight was distracting and irritating. Silly, over the top. Unfortunately, any good that came from their answers was lost amidst the bickering.
Santorum had some great answers; this debate did him some good.
Ron Paul, for all that folks like to tease him, is actually the best "canary in a coal mine" for whether or not something should be considered by the FedGov. We need more advocates of liberty like him.
Romney looked polished and presidential. His answers, as others have noted above, was "safe." But I think more Americans are interested in genuine over "safe" nowadays.
