I saw a tiny woman with a 90-100 lb. pit bull dragging her along, barking and violently trying to chew on someones Golden Retriever.

I was at a stop light on my way to work and saw the whole thing. Couple with two dogs were taking a morning walk and some lady (tattoos, fat, piercings) had a pit bull crossing the same crosswalk...the idiot dog started lunging and attacking the Golden’s...and the loser meth asshat was too strung out and small to hold it back...luckily, the couple jogged off before any real damage was done.

Why can’t the crackhead buy a schnauzer? Because her loser drug dealer boyfriend wants to look tough and protect his stash.

Here is the weird thing, I love animals, I really do, I have had dogs, cats, lizards, bunnies, cows, pigs, etc. I loved living on a real farm as a child in the rural South.

I just love my children, wife, friends, family and MY DOG more than some pit owner's unlit TNT of a breed.

Pit bull owners should buy their own ranch or vacant lot where they can keep their dogs, kids and families all together...maybe even have a “Pit Bull/Infant Child” sensitivity training seminar. Keep a 120 pound pit bull with your newborn....just to prove how “open minded” and “non-judgmental” you are...you don't want to keep practicing all that prejudice and hate towards pit bulls, do you?

No, bring your tot to see “Killa”, “Killah” or “Killer” which are three of the top 300 pit bull names.

If Chihuahuas were 70-90 pounds the nation would be littered with the dead remains of human victims...can you imagine those big assed eyes and that snarling nervous crap if built like a Pit or ABD or Cane Corso...man...that would scare even me...and I am very aware of serious dogs for half a century and counting

bad analogy

try Maltese...or some relaxed sweet lap breed

btw...Rotts kill more...get rid of them too right?

oddly enough I have a 5 month old white Pit in my pen right now I am caring for...I’m alive so far..it’s not my dog..he’s cool to other dogs and people...my ABD bitch will kill anything mammal but loves people..she would welcome Squeaky Fromme in the house at 2AM...so weird

but there is no question...big dogs who can hurt or kill people have to be watched

we have always had them around and they have always hurt folks...we just know it immediately now and Pits have become the dog of choice for bad people ...the sorts who riot in England

but any big fighting or guard breed can bite and can harm or kill

it’s risky with any of them...you have to be watchful..and I have had to seek new homes for dogs that became a danger...to my kids or the local environment...homes that were more remote and no kids

something about kids ...all that racket...can make dogs act weird...they view kids as lower in the pack...and if it’s a big dog...you can have a problem..what would be a check bite to another dog is an emergency room trip for a 9 year old

My best guards have been Dobies, Rotts and Standard ABD...all male all uncut...but the male ABD got too rowdy and would only listen to me and mom...that is another issue...big males only listen to one alpha

folks who don’t want to tend to these critters proper ought not have them...like children

it’s numbers

the more the big guard style dog there is more likely riff raff own them and then the more folks killed by that breed

I believe before that it was German Shepherds

so what do all you squeamish types want?

Breed Specific bans?

anyhow...here is an article from SF Chronicle...hardly a right wing Neo Nazi meth lab or Black Gangster Disciple rag:

it gives a broader scope of bad dogs and shows that it precisely about the numbers...this forum is about truth...practice it...that record is clear.

http://articles.sfgate.com/2005-07-03/bay-area/17383259_1_pit-bull-attacks-number-of-fatal-dog

if tomorrow we had as many Bull Mastiffs or GSD or ABD or Dogos or maybe even Akitas owned by the same sorts...not counting reasonable pet owners like myself and the folks I pinged then those breeds would be the “killer” rep

no question

now I will make a subjective declaration and claim the meanest most likely to bite breed I have ever known is the Chow...those blue tongued devils are neat as hell but will getcha

I have never been bit...amazing...only a box of wild kitties got me once when I stuck my hand in the box on a dare...like a viper’s nest and once when I tried to feed my big Hoytt Dobie a Krystal mouth to mouth me standing up...like he was a seal or something...took off my nose end...it was an improvement

but I have had dogs nip or bite my some of my kids and my little brother got a good bite from our Standard Schnauzer once...don’t grab their nose and shake it
and don’t grab their bowl unless you are sure of it

Current AKC breed registration rankings have GSDs at #2 and Dobermanns at #15.

That’s a LOT of dogs.
[not even counting all the unregistered ones]

Where are all the ‘fatal attack’ headlines?

Oh, yeah...that’s right...they’re not the current choice of drug thugs and welfare trash.

Even Rottweilers are passe’, now.

Once upon a time, yes and the [insert breed here] hysteria was just as strident.

Now that Pits are “too small” for some scum, they’re interbreeding Dogos and Mastiffs into them.

Brilliant move, that.

Akitas will never make it to headline status.
The poser punks don’t want a breed that requires grooming....and severely bites the hand that beats them.

You certainly picked an ironic user name.

“Remove the cause, but not the symptom?”

Generally, when you remove the cause, the symptom disappears, too.

I think that’s why they -remove- cancerous tumors.

Ever seen the movie “They Only Kill Their Masters”?

Five minutes into it, the Dobermann is condemned as the killer of his female owner.

At the end [spoiler alert] it’s discovered that the ex and his new girlfriend did it.

Only in the movies do people bother to fact check a ‘dog attack’ before they condemn the dog.

Perfect crime.

You can’t cross-examine the accused but you can just put a bullet in its head.

So what’s the best way to suppress a pit bull bear hands?

“something about kids ...all that racket...can make dogs act weird...they view kids as lower in the pack”

Actually it’s because their high-pitched squeals and giggles sound like injured prey animals and their tendency to run around a lot provokes a “prey chase” response.

As far back as I can remember, I was taught to -never- run away from a barking dog.

I’ve seen loads of them in my lifetime, stood my ground and never been bitten.

Simple as that but I guess it works.

“...but if you say anything bad about pits, you’ll get bitten.”

Definitely don’t call them “four-legged penis extensions,” that upsets some people.

:)

Norm MacDonald said that a wiener dog ( dachshund ) could rip your throat out but you would have to be laying on the floor and it might take him several months.

More accurately, it makes you look foolish and penis-infatuated.

“As far back as I can remember, I was taught to -never- run away from a barking dog.”

Exactly.

Unfortunately, too few children these days are taught how to behave appropriately around dogs. Running away from a dog screaming (as I have seen some children do) is the worst possible response.

Nope, I’ve never seen it. But I hope that before the dog is put down, the matter (and husband) will be thoroughly investigated. Better to rule out murder after examining the evidence than to clean up the evidence and let a murderer walk to do the crime again.

So, do you have a Pit Bull, a Rottie or a Teacup Chihuahua ?

I have heard that there are some bad strains in the Springer Spaniel breed

Any puppy is a gamble to some degree, mixed breed or purebred. I think the worst thing that can happen to a breed is popularity.

That's when the 'back yard breeders' and the puppy mills start cranking out puppies with no regard to genetics or temperament.

No doubt that and stupid and/or inexperienced owners would explain many of the Pitt Bull problems that make the papers.

You may have heard of "Springer rage". I'm sure it exists, but I've never heard of a case.

Springers do have a few potential genetic issues that good breeders test for, eyes and hips for example, and it's a good idea to get a puppy from a conscientious breeder with certified dogs.

My two springers came from a good breeder and I'm very happy with their looks and personalities. But, I was happy my last three springers too and they were farm dogs and back yard breeder puppies.

It's always a gamble to some degree, so I guess I've been lucky. They've all been healthy, problem free, great dogs, especially my last boy. He was a "once in a lifetime" dog.

From your link:

It does not identify specific breeds that are most likely to bite or kill, and thus is not appropriate for policy-making decisions related to the topic. Each year, 4.7 million Americans are bitten by dogs. These bites result in approximately 16 fatalities; about 0.0002 percent of the total number of people bitten. These relatively few fatalities offer the only available information about breeds involved in dog bites. There is currently no accurate way to identify the number of dogs of a particular breed, and consequently no measure to determine which breeds are more likely to bite or kill.
