In an Austin interview with Mark Halperin, Rick Perry says he has decided he wants to be president, talks about the advice he got from George W. Bush, and says he would compete against Barack Obama in California.

This guy is a fool.
He’s my top pick right now.
He may as well. This will be the last election before California collapses into an insolvent state of spear throwing, Mad Maxian anarchy. We’ll be too busy salvaging stuff from all the Mexicans that went South for a better job market, engaging in inter-yacht-club piracy, and setting up ambushes on the 405 to have time to vote.
look like he’s in....
......"So, whats the most important thing thats facing this country? Its getting this economy back. I am a pro-business governor. I will be a pro-business President if this does, in fact, ensue and Im blessed to be elected President of the United Statesunabashedly [so] because the fact of the matter is, theres nothing more important than having an environment created by government that allows for the private sector to risk its capital to know that they have a good chance of having a return on the investment. Because at that particular point in time, the men and women who are out of work today can be back employed. They can take care of their family. They can do the things they desire in their lives. And without that strong economy, America cant be strong militarily. We cant have, frankly a presence in the world that we need to have. It all goes back to having an economy that people are comfortable withthey can risk their capital and theyll have a return on the investment. We dont have that today.".....
A generation ago, Republican Presidential candidates, President Reagan in particular, competed coast to coast: New Jersey, California, states that have become, now, reliably democratic. If you ran would you aspire to campaign in California and win that in the general election?

This is an aggressive shot over the DNC bow and I freaking like it.
What Perry actually said was that he would campaign there and expected to win some support from Indies & Dems. No mention of wasting tens of millions in futile advertising.
Halperin: A lot of people have said President Obama will be tough to beat because hes a very formidable fundraiser. What kind of confidence do you have that you would be able to go toe to toe with him raising money.
Perry: I think it will be quite competitive in the fundraising side.
Halperin: So that doesnt intimidate you or worry you at all?
Perry: Not a bit.
H: If you ran would you aspire to campaign in California and win that in the general election?
P: Yes sir, I actually have had that conversation....
“This guy is a fool.”
You have no idea what you’re talking about.
Big mistake. Every election, Republicans waste millions of dollars on California that should be used elsewhere.
Thank you, I can read. Point?
“Under the leadership of Gov. Rick Perry, Texas has championed and built upon the concepts my father used to rebuild America in the 1980s.” — Michael Reagan
He has no chance of being competitive in California. Why waste limited resources running for president in California? Those resource should go someplace where a Republican has a chance. Remember last November when the
Republicans put money into Carly Fiorina’s campaign. That money could have been used in the Colorado senatorial campaign where the Republican candidate narrowly lost. If Rick Perry thinks that he has any chance in California he has very bad judgement.
