My local Cabela’s store is three miles from the Kalifornia border. They got hassled by Kalifornia for selling 22 ammo to people under 21 years old because it is “pistol” ammo. In response they started ID’ing all purchasers of ammo. They started asking for your drivers license if you had ammo on the checkstand. The first time they did it to me I raised hell. They do not do it anymore.

I asked a local coin store if I had to show ID to buy anything – they said I didn’t have to and they understood exactly why I asked that question.
