George Lopez wasn't afraid to talk about show getting canceled on "Lopez Tonight" yesterday -- but he told the crowd that he was being fired because of the color of his skin.
Lopez -- whose voice was featured in the "Smurfs" movie -- was talking about how Sony has greenlit a "Smurfs" sequel during his monologue ... and quipped, "So today I lost some work because I'm brown, but I got some work because I'm blue!"
Is Lopez REALLY blaming race ... or was he just trying to crack a bad joke?

If it’s yellow, let it mellow.
If it’s brown, flush it down!
Mr. Fokker
“Nope! He was HIRED because he was brown (Hispanic)...”
Hispanics are not all brown. There are white, blue-eyed folks too. If you come to Panama, I will introduce you to my cousins and friends.
I also have wonderful friends of various skin tones.
One of my dearest friends whom I had known for many, many years died of cancer. She was of West Indian decent. She also had a wonderful sister whom I admired very much. She also passed away.
Outside my family, two of my best friends are “brown” skin (Indian heritage). They clean my home. You have no idea how much I owe them in gratitude for things they have done for me outside their job. I too help them when they need help (and I don’t mean in terms of money). We are a close knitted family outside the family circle.
I know this is unheard of the U.S. We just dont have those hatred divisions between cultures found in the U.S.
The key word is culture. We are all of one culture.
Maybe he was fired for being a not funny racist?
George Lopez.....saw him on the tube and he just wasn’t funny!
Lopez isn’t that funny. But he is a POS first class.
He needed a kidney transplant a few years back and his then wife donated one of hers.
His payback was he took up with a younger woman and divorced the woman who saved his life.
Have no use for this guy what so ever.
I tried to have one a day, finishing up with the “therapist”.
Did you take offense at what I said? HE said he was brown! I was commenting on what HE said. Lighten up Francisco......... if you only knew ............
Don't you mean white, European colony?
Regards,
TS
He did do one thing which I admire him for - on the Howard Stern Show, he destroyed another comedian (can't remember his name, he's a loud Mexican who South Park mocked as well). He played a routine from the comedian and then another from Bill Cosby - the comedian had stolen the routine almost verbatim from Cosby.
I saw Lopez’ stage show in Reno.
What a racist POS.
It could be he was fired because he was not funny...just saying...
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...............
I saw a few minutes of his routine and that was enough for me. He was ranting and raving about how Americans( us stupid white folk in general) have hijacked Mexican food and renamed it. Turning a burrito into a wrap or whatever. He was saying it in a hateful way and a nasty tone. It was not funny. Richard Pryor could make fun of white people and it was funny because he wasn’t saying it with hate in his heart. This guy on the other hand cannot disguise the fact that he isn’t a huge fan of white people.
“LOL!!! Love this!!!”
LOL!!! I loved it too.
I have a few more choice words for him.
Here is one: How about Hijo de puta?
Thank you, lawley.
If all else fails, just whip out your “try to get out of admitting your a complete failure” card. It’s starting to get really, really old.
The Smurfs are all a bunch of commies anyway!
No, George, you was hired because you are brown. You was fired because no one wanted to watch your lousy show.
(I admit that I had to look it up)
“a talentless sniveling racist hack,” but “one big pendejo” works, too. ;-)”
Thank you for your support.
“...and a borracho”
And borracho too?
It does not suprise me.
