The Sleeping Giant Awakens (Obama, radicals and racial violence)
American Thinker ^ | August 10, 2011 | Robin of Berkeley

One of my closest friends, "Gail," lives in a pristine suburb in northern New Jersey. It's one of those leafy bedroom communities where residents drive their Lexus SUVs to the railroad station each morning to catch the train to Manhattan.

After 9/11, Gail told me that eerily, several vehicles were left abandoned in the parking lot for weeks. Their drivers never returned home that day to retrieve them.

But, in general, not much goes on in her sleepy, idyllic town. The residents rave about shopping sprees to Loehmanns and sprints to Whole Foods for organic strawberries. There is no crime to speak of; the local paper blares news about a recent traffic accident or the opening of a Trader Joe's. So when Gail told me what happened to her son, I was absolutely dumbfounded.

As for Gail, like my former self, she's a staunch supporter of the Democratic Party.....

Thank you. Let me tidy it up first. My insomnia tends to evoke decent writing but poor editing. If you want a copy that's certainly alright with me.

Lenin, Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Islamic fundamentalism, crying for ever more blood and destruction with an insatiable hunger. Pure and primordial evil, nothing less.

In a very innocent and terrifying way, liberals don't understand the fire they're playing with. Either they see the parallels between themselves and history, or they are unable emotionally connect with it.

Obama does understand it. You can see it in the dimestore dictator cult of personality they try to weave. The old Soviet style artwork and slogans. The evocations to abstract emotional anchoring in the Person of Obama. Place ye your hopes for change in O Ba Ma. O Ba Ma is the way, the truth, the light. The demonization of opponents, not as wrong intellectually, but wrong morally. Greedy corporations. Extremist opponents. Ignorant bitter clingers. Stoking feelings of envy and resentment, rather than appealing to reason.

Americans don't have much experience in this sort of thing. We laugh at the old Communist regimes, spouting incendiary press releases and staging giant birthday celebrations for Dear Leader. We laugh because, on the outside, the stuff is totally transparent. It's easy to forget that, once you have an audience, this stuff works.

Think about this. If George Bush had gone on TV, told people that liberals were terrorists, announced open season, no limits, and you won't get arrested, how many people in the country would have died? Probably about five.

What if Obama went on TV today, said the Tea Party was destroying America, said that anyone who killed a conservative or Republican would get a Presidential pardon.

Even if he was serious and passionate about it, no one would have actually listed to George Bush and went off to kill people they disagree with politically. Because Bush was a politician to us, nothing more.

If Obama got on TV and passionately urged the country to slay the Tea Party, congressional Republicans and Sarah Palin, there would be thousands of dead people within a few hours. Liberals are being primed for emotional manipulation, in a way that is very easy to turn to violence. They don't yet see it, but they can feel it.

So the Judeo-Christian faith tells us to get the alignment right first. The first alignment to be dealt with is vertical (man's subordination to God) and when that alignment is in order then and only then can and should attention can be given to the horizontal alignment (love thy neighbor). .. The liberal is by definition not in submission to God because the whole concept is anathema to him. The inescapable reality is that the liberal is in rebellion against God. There is simply no other existence available to him. This rebellion can be quite unconscious but nonetheless real even though the liberal who is estranged from God is unaware of his true condition.

This is the crucial point (from yet another of your outstanding posts) that places the entire dilemma into context.

Spiritual alignment is the calibration of the soul. Islam has a very concise and formulaic view of this, which is why there is a place for Christians in Islam (jizya, etc) who will not convert to Islam, yet no place for atheists, except under the sword. Islam recognizes a certain level of doctrinal compatibility.

The Founding Fathers, in a very different but equally savvy way, arrived at the same conclusion. Within a certain span of belief, the many branches of Judeo-Christian beliefs (and a number of other religions) are compatible as neighbors.

What is not compatible, at any time, is the will to power by the spiritually vacant.

Collectivism, whatever the strip, needs to create the vacuum before they can fill it. Once it is created, it can be filled with anything. Environmentalism. Land reform. Resistance to occupiers. Class envy. It creates not just a different alignment, but what is quite literally a spiritual void. Without the eternal alignment of good and evil, the soul of man becomes a ravenous, shifting hunger. Anyone who has seen an angry, passionate liberal furious beyond words, grasping to articulate a spiritual problem without religious terms knows this hunger. This soul void creates spiritual demand, which liberals leaders supply with whatever substitute cause resonates socially with that given audience.

The void is wholly incompatible with the constraints of a unchanging God or a Constitutional Republic.

Obama in particular, and liberals in general, have no use for either. They chafe under the existence of limits. If Oceania needs to be at war with Eastasia instead of Eurasia, it needs a framework where the emotions are kept strong and malleable. Eternal truths are leashes that the State cannot hold, so they become enemies of the State instead. That's why go-along-get-along liberals suddenly scream bloody murder about 'Church and State', even about simple expression that is clearly protected under the 1st Amendment. The very existence of an eternal church (or free men in general) is a threat to the state they envision.

Thanks for your very perceptive post and for including me on the response list.

I keep thinking about this message from Jesus that I keep seeing everywhere nowadays:

Mat 24:6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.

One last pair of observations about this soul sickness which it has become fashionable today to call narcissism. First, it is one of the things that impels liberals to engage in politics. Since they play God, they want, like God, to control the universe. They see this as doing the most good for the most people. They soon see that political power gives them the best chance of controlling the universe so they are inclined to enter politics.

Remember too, that The Won's minders, the ones on the other end of the Blackberry, also think of themselves as God, perhaps evenmoreso that does The Won.

They have also got to be realizing that their puppet is failing them. There may come a time in the not-too-far-distant future when they determine he is more valuable as a martyr than as a teleprompter reader.

Be prepared for that day.

"It's Obama," I explained. "It's what I told you a few years ago. This is what happens when you put someone in power like Obama. Something spreads, like a virus. It's subtle; it's almost invisible. But it poisons one person, and then another and another, until soon the whole country is corrupted.

"It's a sickness called hatred, Gail. Most black people are good, law-abiding, moral people. Obama comes from a far-left fringe group of militants who hate America and want to drag us down. Those same people have degraded and exploited poor black kids for years. These radicals use them as their foot soldiers. Obama would never get his own hands dirty.

Excellent article.
