From a
Korean-language article in Chosun Ilbo Approx 2 pm this afternoon,
NK fired three (artillery) rounds near Yeonpyeong Island which was attacked last year.
One landed on NLL(the sea dividing line.)
SK responded by firing back three rounds of its own.
All SK fishing boats returned to the shore and residents were evacuated to shelters.
So far no casualties were reported and NK appeared to fire at an uninhabited island called Yong-mae-do.

If the worst even happens then I say sorry to all of our South Korean friends that you had to die on the altar of political correctness and for us to have a luxury President. I wish it could have ended better.

I forgot to add that I had several South Korean links that would give us a pulse of what was happening. None of them work now. I hope it's nothing.

Thanks TigerLikesRooster.
It’s all attributable to economic unrest. ;’)

I wish it could have ended better. If I had my way every American stationed in Seoul or the DMZ would be recalled immediately and all aid to SK would cease. They are the most ungrateful and disrespectful ally we've ever had. They burn more American flags on the streets of Seoul than are burned on Arab streets.

Perhaps you are more of an expert on South Korea than I am. I have been there many times and I can tell you that the South Koreans and ROK Marines I trained with all loved and respected America. They appreciated our help. I never saw an American flag burned there. I'm sure at the universities they probably do that since Universities are bastions of leftist mentality all over the world. But I'm not going to judge the whole people over what transpires at their universities.

In a way our troops in south korea and our involvement there limit what South Korea needs to do to defend themselves.
I think we should slowly withdraw and only keep one or two millitary bases there in case the NORKS make it past the border. I say unleash the South Koreans and let them deal with it.
I think we should do the same in germany and in europe. Part of the reason Socialism has spread like a virus in Europe is that with us there watching their back they didn’t need to spend money on defense so they could blow more money on their “welfare states”.

I agree about Europe. The only thing we need to keep in Europe IMO are air and naval bases for transportation of troops and equipment around the world. All Army bases need to be closed. I’m not sure how many air bases we have over there, but perhaps we can even close some of them.
I completely disagree about South Korea and Asia in general. Our forward deployed troops should mainly be in the Middle East and Asia. This is where our national interests currently lie. South Korea is anything but a socialist country and believe me, they have a pretty big Army to defend themselves with.

Poland has offered us what was formerly the largest Soviet Airbase in Eastern Europe repeatedly.
The Czechs have done the same.
We are already using the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base in Romania as a completely-U.S. facility.
(as I have been told, AF guys LOVE this place. Close to the beaches, and the locals love them, and the local economic boom it has created.)

We should start packing up Ramstein Air base and move right now. Germany hates us and all of the Eastern European countries love us. Seems like a no brainer...
