The Return of Christine O'Donnell
By Jeffrey Lord on 8.9.11 @ 6:08AM
"You think I'm licked. You all think I'm licked! Well I'm not licked! And I'm gonna stay right here and fight for this lost cause even if this room gets filled with lies like these. Somebody will listen to me."
-- Jimmy Stewart as anti-Establishment Senator Jefferson Smith in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington
She's baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack.
The woman the Ruling Class spent so much time scorning in 2010 isn't going quietly. As a matter of fact, there's not the slightest sign she's going -- period. And -- among others -- Texas Senator John Cornyn, the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) Chairman, along with former Bush White House aide Karl Rove and the elites of the Delaware Republican Party, will decidedly not be happy to hear it.
On the other hand, sitting across from me last week on the sunlit patio of a local Starbucks, the first hot-off the presses copy of her newly published book Troublemaker in hand, a distinctly upbeat and enthusiastic Christine O'Donnell looked and sounded pretty sunny herself.
With considerable justification.
The subjects she talked about with such passion in last year's campaign season are today the center of Washington politics. An irony considering Ms. O'Donnell was derided not only by elitist Delaware Democrats but Ruling Class elites of both the Delaware Republican Party and, amazingly in a movement that celebrates such anti-liberal Establishment stars from Buckley to Reagan to Fox and talk radio, some conservatives. In the latter case, to be fair, there were conservatives who took umbrage at an O'Donnell lawsuit against the conservative Intercollegiate Studies Institute. The issue involved was gender discrimination, and was dropped by O'Donnell in January 2008. But in fact this was decidedly not the driving issue surrounding her

“Take your own medicine much?”
No, I believe you have that department covered.
“You go and seek all those comments which I apparently posted saying I probably dont care for her.”
Why should I when you did it for all of us. All one has to do is read your comments. It is quite clear, you know. You may not possess any talent in the Illusionist or Psychic reader department, but you made yourself perfect clear concerning any opinion of O’Donnell.
So, you can’t show where I stated what you think.
Thanks!
I greatly appreciate and respect your comments. I disagree, to some degree, with some of your points, but my time has run out here.
I’ll try to clarify my position tomorrow. If I should fail to respond in a timely manner, you must pardon me.
Good night,
TJI
Karl! Karl! Is that you?
Don’t forget the RION,scum bag, Cornyn either.
Damn straight dittos!
Hello to another Delawarian. Christine has been nothing but a class act since last November's election. She has been supporting the Sussex GOP via her PAC, never insinuating herself into the picture.
She did NOT go on Dancing With the Stars though few would have held it against her.
She got exonerated from that FEC charge, done by the Delaware GOP Chairman...NOW RESIGNED as he was forced.
Above a pic of Christine with my granddaughter.
Becuase the Blue Blood Ruling Class GOP will reach across the aisle to the Democrats with perfectly polished fingernails and superb coiffed hair. Who will they beat the hell out of as if in an alley cat fight?
THEIR OWN DAMN BASE!!!!
Tokyo Rove will be deeply disappointed.
Don’t forget losing by 17 points in the midst of a massive Republican landslide elsewhere.
Ever heard of Tokyo Rove sonny?
Can someone explain to me the benefit of conservatives adopting the moronic conspiracy theory that Karl Rove controls the universe from leftists? At least if we're going to have stupid paranoid theories, we should develop our own.
You mean Rove cost Christine 17 points? I could believe 3 or 4, but 17? Seriously?
Grandpa, you're off your meds again...
Good point. Most thought it would be a close race, one that Christine would have to work for but she could pull it out. The 17 point loss that it ended up being really shows a candidate who may energize the crowds, but really can’t run a campaign.
Based on the exit polling if every single Republican who voted, voted for O’Donnell, she still would have lost badly.
No one has ever been able to adequately explain how Karl Rove guides the votes of Independents and Democrats.
Because independents and Democrats love Karl Rove? LOL - sorry, needed to lighten the mood!
Because way too many conservatives have an "us versus them" bunker mentality. They pick a candidate who appears to be the most conservative and then demand that the entire "Right" support the candidate no matter how flawed. If the candidate is not supported, its a reason to lash out at everyone who isn't "pure."
I also think O'Donnell was a deeply flawed light weight. She lost because of herself, not Rove or RINOS or Castle. Now she's trying to cash in. Quite frankly, she's been a publicity seeker all along (just watch some of her appearances on Maher's show). I actually hope this book tanks.
“She performed a great accomplishment by derailing Castle and the entire RINO establishment here in DE.”
Which is probably the cause for the resentment.
Rove and his good buddy Charles Sour Krauthammer!
It's time to move on.
