Terrified diners in London told Tuesday how rioters brandishing baseball bats smashed their way into a top restaurant and forced them to hand over wedding rings, cell phones and wallets.
Staff at two-Michelin-starred The Ledbury, in the affluent west London suburb of Notting Hill, were forced to confront the gang of intruders with rolling pins and kitchen utensils Monday evening in a desperate bid to protect customers.

In Texas, at a crowded restaurant, at least 5 people would have been packing. The problem for the yobs (as the British like to call them) would be figuring out just who those 5 were and disarming them. Since they are all concealed, the yobs are just out of luck...and bullets will fly. And in Texas, we take our shooting seriously and practice - innocents would be safe, only the yobs would have have to deal with caskets.
If they had fryers, each kitchen staff should have loaded up multiple pans with hot oil. Nobody keep looting with a face full of hot oil. The only real distance weapon they had available.
By this point in time, if I had a restaurant or shop in the UK, I’d have a shotgun ready — gun ban or no.
Watching all this made me determine that the next time I travel I leave my valuables in a vault and take only fun costume jewelery and imitation gemstones.
If that happened in Texas I doubt they’d leave in very good condition. This won’t be like it was at Luby’s. Lots of people carrying today. In fact, a woman who was at Luby’s got elected to the state legislature just to pass a concealed carry law. And she did it. Her parents were killed at Luby’s.
I was gonna say.....shouldn’t a sizable kitchen have lots of knives?

Imitation gemstones could get you just as dead as real gemstones.
Yes, don’t take anything you won’t willingly part with - and that includes the US and the lovely TSA. The new reality.
Be prepared mentally and watch your surroundings. Look for the exits. Look for what may be a potential weapon. A commercial kitchen is full of lots of nasty weapons from a cleaver to a pot of boiling water.
Don’t be a victim and just beat the living crap out of any thug who tries this stuff. Then beat him again. Pick the leader and flash mob him or her. When one of them is lying in the street and his momma can’t recognize him, then the rest will think twice about trying this again.

Couldnt they just talk and negotiate with these poor misguided yutes?
Go Medieval on the punks.

That’s right. Mad dog with rabies mean.
The inbred soon-to-be-king would be appaled at cutting down trees for the knife handles or broomsticks...it causes Climate Change, you know...
We need a ongoing live thread..
