Report: Reid Picks Kerry, Murray And Baucus For Deficit Super Panel
NPR ^ | August 9, 2011 | Frank James

Sen. Harry Reid has made his picks for the deficit super committee whose task it is to recommend with $1.5 trillion in federal spending cuts over 10 years — Senators John Kerry of Massachusetts, Patty Murray of Washington State and Max Baucus of Montana.

Several news outlets reported Tuesday afternoon that they learned the names from Democratic sources. The committee will have 12 members, three more named by Sen. Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader, and six named by House Republicans and Democrats.

By choosing Murray, who chairs the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee that will be trying to defend the 23 Senate seats currently held by Democrats, Reid ensures that whatever recommendation his people agree to will be deeply informed by the Democrats' desire to hold onto their slim majority.

Murray is also on the Senate Appropriations Committee's defense subcommittee and represents a state with a number of military facilities and contractors.

So her presence on the super committee should give some cover to Senate Democrats when they ask Republicans to agree to deeper Defense Department cuts.

The libs need (very badly) to get him re-elected.

You'll be seeing him on the food channel (wearing an apron that says "It' All Bush's Fault")...if that's what it takes.

So Reid picks the most Liberal of his group to put on what I consider an Unconstitutional Committee to come up with Cuts in the Budget.
These people will never cut any Entitlement Program or even attempt to fix them.
I see a deadlock and make no mistake is was designed as such.
So really nothing meaningful will really happen.

PATTY MURRAY.... ha ha ha ha ha ha!! She is not only the stupidest Senator in this Senate, she is the stupidest Senator in the HISTORY of the Senate. Sheeesh. What a pick.

Everything this panel discusses will be WAY over her head and in the end, she will just look at Lurch to find out how to vote.

Murray and Kerry are sacrificial goats. I’m not sure what the thinking was behind sending Baucus.

Wow. Talk about a fool's paradise.

Kerry is bitter buffoon, Murray is a moron, and Baucus is a hard-line lib with extra thick blinders on.

I can imagine that Barry had a hand in selecting this august roster. They're his kind of people.

That would be great, and I hope they do, but I doubt it matters. Appointing these three libtards guarantees nothing substantial will be done to save our blessed America. Not until Obama is gone, and we control both houses. We have to cut out the dems and the rinos or it's just a continued slow rise to boil. The democrat party is the enemy of this country's well being, and the rinos are their collaborators.
