PRUDEN: The terror of Rick Perry’s penitent prayer

Wes Pruden

August 9, 2011

ANALYSIS/OPINION

Christians are driving atheists nuts. Atheists are trying to spread their belief — or more to the point, their lack of belief — with zeal that Billy Sunday or Billy Graham could have envied: Unless Sunday schools are closed, Bibles shredded, hymnbooks torched and children jailed when found kneeling with Mom in bedtime prayer, no one is secure in their homes.

Rick Perry, the governor of Texas who nearly everyone expects to be a candidate for president of the United States, sent the atheists of Texas into a frenzy approaching apoplexy over the weekend with his testimony to his faith in Jesus Christ at a rally of repentance in Houston.

The governor was no less zealous, though he didn’t seem to be mad at anyone and offered a prayer for everyone, in particular for President Obama and his family...

The constitution prohibits congress from establishing a religion. How does Perry making a public prayer equal congress establishing a religion?

I’m no atheist, but if I were, I’d be promoting Judaism and Christianity. As Ivan Karamazov postulated, if there’s no God, He’ll have to be invented.

Something my priest said a long time ago...”Since atheists KNOW that God doesn’t exit, and therefore can’t do anything, then why do they worry so much about those of us who believe in God?”

Beats me, but it sure seems to irritate the Godless Communists and the Democrats, but I repeat myself.

Quite right. What’s the big deal?

Recall the old adage about religion: “ For those who believe, no explanation is necessary; for those who don’t, no explanation will do.”

”Since atheists KNOW that God doesn’t exit, and therefore can’t do anything, then why do they worry so much about those of us who believe in God?”

I have a theory about that. Some people want to practice their “lifestyle” without any fear of the consequences. The idea of a God who will punish their sins terrifies them, so they try to wish Him away. The true atheists probably are not troubled by religion so long as they are not bothered, but the borderline atheists don’t want to be reminded by anything that they could be wrong.

With only 16% of the population athiest/agnostic I don’t think that Christianity and Judaism are in danger.

The thing is nobody really cares about the athiests and their humanist drivel. It’s perfectly ok with me if they choose to believe that the end of them is maggot bait in the ground. They’re perfectly welcome to that belief. Go and be happy in it! Live your days to the fullest whatever you may deem that to be.

The thing is, they’re not happy in it. They’re usually paranoid nihilists because their life has no meaning whatsoever. And they rebel at any kind of morality and claim it doesn’t exist as they live in despair at the pointlessness of their existence. And they hate us because we believe in the purpose of each of our lives to lift each other up in prosperity and peace and by loving each other. And they especially don’t like us to be happy in our purpose. Their hate literally eats them up and makes them destructive.

It’s like most socialist ideology. Everybody should share the misery of their existence instead of individual prosperty and love of life.

“...W.C. Fields’ close friends Gene Fowler and John Decker visited Fields while he was hospitalized for the last time (at the Las Encinitas Sanatorium), enduring a bout of delirium tremens. They caught W. C. reading the Bible, and Gene said, “What? You, Bill, reading the Bible? You’re an atheist, what are you doing reading the Bible?”

To which Fields replied, “I’m looking for a loophole.”...”

It’s interesting how much they hate Christianity. Notice that I didn’t say “religion”. Because they don’t hate Islam. Oh, no. They ADORE Islam. And they don’t hate Buddhism or Hinduism... those are cool things you do when you’re high on acid.

But they do hate Christians.
And they do hate Jews.
And they hate them very, very much.

They hate them with a zeal that is positively demonic.

What I’ve noticed about some Atheists and almost all liberals is that they cry the loudest when people are trying to do the right thing.

I have always said the reason why they hate Jesus is because He is the truth. Evil cannot look at the truth and survive.

Thank you Lord Jesus because once I was lost and now I see. Praise His Holy Name.
