We may be learning about a potential 'October Surprise' now-a forthcoming film about Obama's decision to deploy SEAL Team Six to assassinate Osama bin Laden. Note the release date, October 2012.
Oscar-winning director Kathryn Bigelows forthcoming Osama bin Laden assassination moviewhich is rumored to star Dennis Farina as Vice President Joe Biden, Garry Shandling as British Prime Minister David Cameron, and Vin Diesel as Man with Gun No. 2has just been assigned a release date of October 12, 2012. Not only is October 12, 2012, just about the day it becomes O.K. to start thinking about Halloween, its also prime timing for the 2012 elections October Surprise.
According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, the movie has become the hottest project in town since bin Ladens death on May 2. In terms of publicity and rollout, Sony Pictures is using a strategy similar to the one employed on The Social Network. Lets assume the film is a huge hit: Bigelow is not too far removed from her 2009 Oscar win, and interest in seeing the death of bin Laden is, as we know, appreciable. If the Barack Obama character is portrayed as a strong leader whose military savvy wrought great success and security, it could improve the presidents image among audience members. It might even convert some undecideds.
Even Maureen Dowd can't help notice the timing. Or the fact that the Obama Administration is giving the producers inside access to information about the mission:
The White House is also counting on the Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal big-screen version of the killing of Bin Laden to counter Obamas growing reputation as ineffectual. The Sony film by the Oscar-winning pair who made The Hurt Locker will no doubt reflect the presidents cool, gutsy decision against shaky odds. Just as Obamaland was hoping, the movie is scheduled to open on Oct. 12, 2012 perfectly timed to give a home-stretch boost to a campaign that has grown tougher.
The moviemakers are getting top-level access to the most classified mission in history from an administration that has tried to throw more people in jail for leaking classified information than the Bush administration.
It was clear that the White House had outsourced the job of manning up the presidents image to Hollywood when Boal got welcomed to the upper echelons of the White House and the Pentagon and showed up recently to the surprise of some military officers at a C.I.A. ceremony celebrating the hero Seals.
If we had followed his pontifications and suggestions at the time, we would never have gotten the man. But he will ride on the backs of others, scoffing at them, snidely looking down his nose at them, to try and turn around his absolute disaster and failure as President, as a leader, and as a man.
I hope and pray it backfires, utterly and completely on him.
Epic fail. I would only watch the end where if it were my movie, they throw his carcass into Davy Jones’ locker with a pork rind bag over his head.
Anyone who casts a vote based on a movie, is a complete & utter idiot.
“Although the lead roll of Barack Obama has yet to be cast, the street buzz has it that salary negotiations continue with the producers’ top choice, BOZO THE CLOWN.”
Funny thing about that - I can think of 69,456,897 people who were complete and utter idiots in November 2008.
The key scene in this propaganda piece will be where everyone looks up expectantly at el Presidente as he gravely takes in all of the information and firmly reaches his decision. The lighting will accent the angularity and manliness of his features, while also casting a soft halo behind him.
I wonder which actor will get to play O?
Isn’t that a hoot- this Metro Sexual Question Mark needs our military to look like a man. It won’t work.
The American people understand that it was 8 long years and much hard work by our military and intelligence services that got Bin Ladin. I can’t wait to find out how many times they had UBL in their sights only to be called off by the jerks in the WH.
If not for his falling poll numbers, Obama’s minions would have pulled a “clinton”.
I don’t see this going well for Obama.
In fact, it will cause a tremendous backlash especially after the recent loss of special operations troops.
(not)
This is 15 months away. Will people even have money to go to the movies then?
The movie production company will probably be given unprecedented access and help from the Defense Department. In the movie version expect to see women and gay carechters in the leadership roles.
“Anyone who casts a vote based on a movie, is a complete & utter idiot.”
And they are legion.
IIRC, this thing was given the green light back in January. About five months before we killed UBL. Interesting timing.
Pee Wee Herman in black face.

LOL!
Simple commercial can fix that. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me, even an idiot doesn’t want to be called a fool.
you forgot “the Day after tomorrow” which was suppose to turn the tables on the 2004 election- and didn’t...
