As a mother, it truly breaks my heart to see the children in Somalia/Africa suffering. It is hard to watch, disturbing to think about. However, I just saw a report about Haiti a few days ago. The reporter was reporting from a ‘tent city’ where he said about 30,000 people are living now — and have been living for 18 months now. His exact words were that ‘nothing really has changed since the earthquake.’ I know that millions, and perhaps billions, of dollars have been sent and donated to that nation. And you are telling me that nothing has changed in 18 months? That only tells me that the gov’t is corrupt, money is stolen and/or misspent, and is being pretty much flushed down the toilet.

If there are better ways to directly help these people, I’m all for it. But so far it just seems to go to corrupt thugs and innocent people die regardless.

We’d better save ourselves before we try again (for the umteenth time) to save the world.
