Perry is Bush lite and Sarah Palin in a skirt

Todd J. Gillman

August 7, 2011

GOP consultant Alex Castellanos dumped all over Gov. Rick Perry this morning on NBC's Meet the Press, calling him "Sarah Palin with a skirt" and a lesser version of George W. Bush - and not in a good way.

"He has some challenges. One of them is that people think he's a little bit of a coffee table book. He's kind of Sarah Palin with a skirt. Not a substantive candidate," Castellanos said when host Dick Gregory asked if Perry could give the current front-runner, Mitt Romney, a run for his money.

Castellanos - who has advised Romney...

No, on second thought, I wouldn’t take either one of them. So far it’s Bachmann for me.

I like Cain, but he’s not going to make it to the finish line, IMO.

When the GOP convention rolls around next year, it will be three, maybe four viable possibilities left. They’ll be the ones with money, organization, and delegates.

Most likely Bachmann and Romney, and also Palin and Perry (if they run).

Probably lowballing it a bit, but not by much. As I left at 12 noon, there were still plenty of people piling into the stadium.

There was a guy outside in the heat who blew a ram’s horn. He was there at 10AM when i first arrived and he was still there at noon. How he survived the heat, I don’t know.

If I remember right Ronald Reagan was for abortion before he was against it. I’ll vote for Gov Perry in a minute if he’s our nominee. Romney - liberal East coast all the way.

You remember wrong. Ronald Reagan was NEVER for abortion.

Please don't trash Reagan to make other candidates look tolerable.

Gov. Palin endorsed the RINO Perry for his re-election. So what. Did he speak up to protect her from the MSM and Romney and Rove? No? RINO Perry works with Rove.

And claiming the RINO Perry “walks the walk of a true conservative” after he FORCED Gardasil onto chaste 6th graders to help his Chief of Staff’s company just does not cut it as a conservative move, does it? Nope.

NO MORE RINOs.

NO PerryCARE.

No RomneyCARE.

NO MORE RINOs.

Amen. It's interesting to watch the same lesser of two evils "pragmatic" crowd come out of the woodwork again every 4 years. It's just so predictable and lame.

I would never vote for anyone who supported Gore for president. I don’t care what year it was. Perry is a Rino.

It certainly generated a great deal of news coverage. I wonder if the guy with the ram’s horn was part of the anti-rally protest. I read that a small group of atheists were outside of the stadium carrying on for a while.

Yep. And Perry worked for Al Gore’s campaign.

I get so tired of this being trotted out. I think most Texans were democrats before the Democrats turned into complete leftist loons.

39 of Texas' governors have been Democrats, only 6 Republicans. When Bill Clements was elected Governor, he was the first Republican Governor in over a century.

I think of Texas Politics kinda like the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. There were lots of them (kinda like Texas Democrats) until the ELCA went off the rails.

Lots of former Evangelical Lutheran Parishes in TX have jumped ship.., they voted to leave the ELCA, and join LCMC, or Word Alone...well, so have most of the old time Democrats. They became Republicans. On social issues,Texas Dem's used to be more conservative than a lot of today's "moderate" Republicans.

Perry didn't support the GOP during the Reagan years? Switched only in '89?

Real bad judgment IMO.

we know who the enemy is. romney. btw romneyfeller, thanks again for creating the template for obamacare.

romneycare -> obamacare. enough said. romney is worse then obama because he is slick and clever enough to drive the liberal agenda. obama just copies others like rino romney.

as for perry. forget him. i never trust a man who wears our Lord on his sleeve. sarah and michelle pray in the wings and walk o’ so humbly in the Lord. that’s the ticket for me, so far. if gov. walker wants to get in. fine he’s my choice for president from the gov’s office. he’s done far more in a very short time in wisconsin then perry’s done in two terms.

we got two conservatives now who have proved themselves: palin an bachmann. i’ll stick with them.

and, i’d vote for the libertarian mr paul before i’d vote for perry.

I doubt that the guy with the ram’s horn was a protester. He smiled and waved at the crowd and seemed a pleasant type of person.

He had too much energy to be a protester.

I am assuming it was a Shofar, calling people to prayer and repentance..but what do I know?
