I second your view that the romantic notion of hooliganism is pathetic. Speaking as someone who ended up in the hospital due to EDL thugs, there is nothing good or admirable about them.

I wasn’t defending hooligans, I was defending former hooligans who have organized politically.
Who say you were injured by EDL members. Late me inquire, who provoked that incident? I’ll bet militant muzzies were at the bottom of it.
We don’t have “hooligans” over here but the tea paries I’ve attended could have used a security detachment of tough-looking young men. The opposition has no compunction about doing it and they always end up being the provocateurs and aggressors.
I see no way that the next 15 months will avoid numerous physical left-right confrontations. I hate giving the other side the physical advantage.
