Just wondering how she was able to escape.

There is an underground railroad of sorts for these women. Several who have left (or been ex’d) are still in contact with a few of the women. There is at least one woman who stays out of fear but helps others escape.

There are safe-houses in several states as well.

However, it is really hard for a woman to get their hands on a vehicle (if they can drive at all only a few of the older ones can) and even harder to leave with their children.

Most sneak out in the middle of the night, at risk of their lives, to a meeting area where they are picked up then delivered to a safe house.
