That's not just a clever slogan.Sane society cannot be treated as a game of who’s the biggest bully, that’s for sure, but being aimless, waffling, unassertive suckers with nothing worth fighting to protect is no prize either.
It's a very serious mental disease and, though in some cases curable, in most cases it can't be touched, even with the largest doses of evidence and reality to the contrary.
People can be as liberal and giving as they want with their own selves and whoever else consents, but sanity stops when they try to force this point of view on their neighbor — not just persuade, but force. If liberals as we know them desire to be seen as the anti-bullies, which seems well intentioned enough, they only succeed in bullying society backwards. A good solid moral reference point is wanting in their world view. Sensible folks may differ about exactly where the point is, but they cannot deny one exists.
