I was introduced to him by the 1986 movie "Crossroads", which was about his legend. I can still hear Joe Seneca pointing to Ralph Macchio and saying, "This here boy's from Long Island. That's the cradle of the blues!"

I learned about Robert Johnson from an old black man named Leroy Black. He was a friend of my step-father. "Blackie" played an old Gibson dobro and played the blues for anyone who would listen. It was a lot like Skynyrd's "The Ballad of Curtis Lowe", except that my mom approved of me listening to him.
