You have to be really,really incompetent to be fired from that position at that firm.
It almost never happens.
He lost a power struggle with Paulson. You have to give the Devil his due — he did a great job overseeing Goldman’s trading operation. They made a fortune while he was in charge. I can think of much worse people for Obama to pick for Treasury.
