Last night on Greta VanSusteren's program, Donald Trump said that if the GOP nominates the "wrong person" and the economy is still bad, he WILL run for President. He then acknowledged that he knows the economy will still be "bad". So, that leaves only one consideration; if he doesn't like the nominee, he's running as a Third Party candidate. He did say, however that he "likes" Michele Bachmann and that he "loves" Sarah Palin. He was very non-committal on Mitt.
Oh boy, the plot thickens.
Sarah encouraged Trump to get back in the running during their last meeting in NY.
You are more astute than others in this thread. I agree 100%.
Yup, just like Ross Perot did for X-42.
My bet is she announces and he endorses.
Its been the plan since that night out for pizza.

Possibly. The whole question is what he means by “the wrong candidate”. An establishment hack, or a more or less conservative candidate?
Probably he was just growling because of the appalling Royal Congress and Perpetual Obligations Act which just passed.
Trump works for the Democrats.
‘Trump may still save us’ ping!
LOL - you said: I like your (Dem) third party demise, but not my (Rep) third party demise.
You seem to be wedded to the Republican party & would rather have a “win” than principles.
I guess I am one of those “purists” you are discussing. And I dont see a benefit to following either down the path of destruction: Republican socialists who will walk us down the path or the Democrat socialists who will run us down that path.
I prefer principled conservatives
YOU can either get engaged and work to help improve the Republican party or you can help the Democrats. There are no other choices.
Being perceived as a joke is not an impediment to occupying the White House.
I think Trump and Bachmann might well be in cahoots so might several others, with the goal of putting Sarah Palin in the White House. We will see in October. If that’s the case Donald is a true American—if not—he’s a crass ego ego driven guy. Still, I like some of his ideas and talk. I think he choked on the BC and Hawaii.
You are a wise woman!
I make no judgment as to the actual facts of the matter. I do however believe that how it was playing out, on balance it served to benefit Obama's side, and Trump's bull-rush into the issue pretty much finished it in the national discourse.
I think it's entirely possible that that was the entire objective and purpose of Trump's "candidacy" at the time--to remove the issue from Obama and the Democrats' arsenal so that "we" (however defined) could move on to more substantive attacks on Obama's record. That's the Machiavellian aspect that I find delicious to contemplate--even it is a completely bogus hypothesis.
Your mileage may vary.
I think Trump wants Palin to run, and is "signalling" that desire in ten-foot Trump letters from Trump Tower--that's my opinion.
