What do Harvards Stephen Walt and the Iranian parliament have in common? Both are obsessed with the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a bipartisan think tank in Washington that were proud to call our neighbor. Walt and the Iranians, on the other hand, both see FDD as a pillar ofyou guessed itthe Israel lobby.

Well, its one thing for Iranian officials to think like members of an obscurantist clerical regime, but its something else again when a Harvard professor holds hands with them, analytically speaking. In a recent post at FP.com, Foreign Policy magazines blog, Stephen Walt claims that FDD has been in the vanguard of the campaign for war with Iran, reflexively supportive of the Israeli right. . . . Walt, what a scumbag, I can remember how it was pretended that “The Israel Lobby” was supposed to be some objective academic study — now it’s made more explicit than ever that Walt is a loyal tool of the radical left assaulting Israel and America’s support for Israel.
Anyone who would have such a warm political and policy association with Medea Benjamin is the scum of the earth, no more info is needed.
More like defense of pseudodemocracies.

FYI
“Iran revolutionary guards commander becomes new president of Opec
Rostam Ghasemi joins Ahmadinejad cabinet as oil minister, automatically making him head of global oil organisation

A senior Iranian revolutionary guards commander targeted by international sanctions has taken over the presidency of Opec after he became Iran’s oil minister on Wednesday.

The appointment of Ghasemi as Iran’s oil minister automatically makes him the head of Opec which has a crucial role in determining oil prices.
As its second-largest crude oil exporter, Iran took the presidency of Opec after 36 years last October and Ghasemi’s position will give the revolutionary guards a unique opportunity to influence an international organisation.”

OK, Obama isn’t it finally time to allow more drilling in the U.S., including ANWR?
